Just an idea.:)

To have a thread where we can share what we have done or bought or considered for our beloved cars "today" thread.

Hopefully this might catch on?

I will kick off..

Managed to align my front bumper properly...Big thanks to shiny car's guide to bumper removal. Once i had removed the front portion of arch liner the 2 torx screws were revealed and the bumper was easily aligned as it should be.

Did notice my oil cooler pipes looked a tad ropey. Will have to look into oil cooler options. Is upgrading the unit wise at this point? Covered the pipes in rust protectant for now. Better the devil you know.

Wheel alignment - Peter Cambridge

After fitting Zeatek Z9 coilovers and finally getting the ride height even, I popped over to ProTyre in Warwick this morning for Peter Cambridge of PCA Dynamics to set the geometry up. The new coilovers had already improved the ride compared with the old worn suspension but the difference to the car with a good alignment is amazing. Can't recommend Peter, who works as a consultant, and Jock at ProTyre, highly enough.

hi there,
Picked up my 2001 156 Sportwagon today, from 'underbodyprotection' of Lindfield, West Sussex. (07860 569429). A really top job. everything steam cleaned, wing guards removed, all the chassis sections plugs removed and filled with wax. A welded repair was carried out to the drivers side floor. As the seats had to come out and the carpets up, more section plugs remove and waxed up.
Took five days and you can pop in during that time to see how things are going.
Michael is the boss man. Really approachable and reassuring. Very happy.
Regards,
Pete Lewis.

Another one replacing a seized rear wiper motor on a 147....been meani ng to do it for months....

Can't get Offside sidelight to work whatever I try - think I'm going to have to run a feed wire from the nearside....doubtless that will confuse the check system......

Well as mentioned after all my nightmare with blue and me trying to get my ipod to work...

Managed to win a sale on ebay..for an as new genuine ipod connector kit. That actually came out of a fiat 500, but same unit as GT/147 connector. All for £12.50 delivered. Took everything apart today and routed the ipod connect to the glovebox...And happy days my ipod works a treat. Cannot say how happy i am after having no ipod music since i have owned her.:D

Hi Damien The head unit looks like it was a factory fit option , you can alter the colours on this unit so I have red buttons and a white display to mimic the speedo / rev counter.
I have had this GT for 10 months and in that time I have fitted

new cambelt and water pump
4 vredstien sessanta tyres
alloys refinished
drls to front bumper
led side lights
led brake lights
gtv stumpy ariel
new head unit
led interior lights
removed all badges apart from grill and boot
removed chrome bars from front grill
next is egr delete and suspension

Nice rickco looks like the coupe has got under your skin... Know that feeling. I always regretted selling my first GT. So now i have my clover know she is a keeper.

The head unit sounds class. Did you read my result today with the ipod connector. If that had failed would have probably gone the same route as you have.

Have you any ideas on suspension. I am really happy with my eibach pro s coilover kit with my eibach ARB's. Quality ride and nicely balanced not over hard like my old bilstein coilovers.

Egr delete is in the pipeline for me also, before i consider mapping. I really fancy a nice exhaust system too. Already started talking to a few companies.

To follow on from the recent saga....
I managed to get the internal fan working again (or most of it, speeds 1, 2, 4 - that will do for now)
Fixed the passenger footwell trim which has been hanging down for almost 13 of the 14 years Ive owned the car!
Fitted the pressed metal new number plates and it really sets it off nicely.
Was hoping to fit the rear badge but ebay vendor now says its on back order... all this way.
Fitted mood lights (of a fashion).
Took a feed off the illuminated ashtray and taped a red led directly below it lighting up the compartment in front of the gearstick. Put a terminal block on the feed and then taped another red led on the side of the glovebox nearest the centre of the car pointing down (if its not much light will put a 3 led strip here).
I put a line down from the courtesy lights, across the windscreen (there is a gap at the front), down the side pillar cover (theres a gap now) and then threaded it through underneath the drivers seat to the centre console, taping it up to existing wiring to avoid any tangle with the steering/pedals. I took the -ve feed off the courtesy light block.
Now I had originally thought about drilling a couple of holes in the courtesy light housing and shining two red leds down. I have the grommets and the drill bit ready but above the courtesy light bulb housing there are two small led shaped 3mm holes so I fed one of the red leds down into this. So effectively it will light the whole courtesy light reflector. The other one I just let dangle down inside the housing until it touched the bottom. I doesnt touch the light bulb so wont melt and when the light comes on it doesnt affect the lighting much at all. Will play around with placements and see what I come up with.
Just have to fix the alarm and that should be that short of underseal and front suspension!

Think i am going to go 235/40/18's next time round. Had these on my ttqs and loved the look of the tyre on the rim. Also the touch higher profile will only add to the ride quality.:)

Replaced the top turbo hose yesterday. It was a lucky buy - I got it last Thursday and on Friday had a long drive when noticed unusual quantities of black smoke.
Surprise, surprise, the battery had oil on it and there was 2-3 inch split on the hose.

I bit of Italian tuning after it to clear the system :) and I think I am a happy man
