I hear that I can expect around 250 horses from a remap. Has anyone tried this on their 159? I also wonder whether a nice stainless steel autodelta exhaust system would give it a bit of subtle throatiness that it deserves??
Gus at alfa tune quoted me £600 for the remap to 240-250hp plus a stainless steel twin exhaust system or about the same cost. Apparently really nice improvement through the gears and nice subtle sound enhancement. What do you reckon chaps?
I've got the AHM remap (presumably by Alfatuner) and it is very good, won't give you a night & day performance change like the deisels but it's a much better car to drive now, throttle response is much sharper and more power available from around 3000rpm, plus the power doesn't tail off so quickly after 5000rpm, it feels more willing to rev
I'm sure a lot of exhaust systems will make the car louder, but I'm not sure they'll make it sound better - as exhaust tuning a turbo four for aural pleasure is very complicated and most of the aftermarket systems are not.
There's videos of 1750s with SuperSprint & Ragazzon systems on Youtube that may be worth checking out to see if you like that kind of sound
My opinion is if you want to make an improvement to your car, you must make the remap to gus, an the exhasut also to him.
I think that this exhaust will work more correct because gus knows all the parameters (backpressure, gas temperature, etc etc) from his remap.
I had mine done a couple of months back and it made the car so much better to drive, should have done it earlier!
The Autodelta sports cat is probably good but it costs a fortune. I'd sooner get the Ragazzon decat pipe and then slip a generic 200 cell sport cat in place of the centre silencer.
I can't imagine that changing the backboxes will give any extra power, as standard each one has 2.5" piping and only takes half of the exhuast gas - I'm sure it'd change the sound though
The solution is for the exhaust system the above.
Catless downpipe, center box muffler with hjs 200cpsi euro5, and a pair o rear backboxeis cometely straight through! And of course new remap.
In italy the autodelta distributor, i think is romeo ferraris. Imageshack - curvabrera175tb2page001.jpg
When i asked autodelta about the increase at the horsepower they told me :
Wider power range to 6100rpm (5500rpm standard car)
27 bhp increase
30lbft torque increase
Optimized cam timing for quicker throttle response
Optimized boost control
Get a decat downpipe or sport at depending on your country's regulations...
I'm putting a WMI kit on soon...
