145/146 owner

Hi all. I have 2 alfas at the moment and have become a lover of them. I have a '95 146 1.6 which was my first one and also a '96 145 2ltr twin spark which i love. unfortunately the 146 failed its mot miserably a couple of weeks ago and has to go. im gutted. Was quoted £1000 to get it through. Needs a front sub frame, wiper motor, a tyre and a couple of other small bits and bobs. I know nothing about mechanics so cant fix it my self. I really dont want to scrap it as it has only done just over 36000 miles. The interior is in excellent condition while the exterior is good to. Paint has faded at the rear and there are the usual tesco bumps and dents. If anyone would like to buy it for much cheapness or give me advise on where i can get it fixed up cheaper then please e:mail me at [email protected].

Re: 145/146 owner

Hi Gazdallas. Welcome.
Your best course depends on how good the body really is. At 36000 mls I'd expect someone to salvage it, if not yourself:- unless the actual body is corroded or a disaster from the cosmetic point of view.
Wwhat exactly was wrong with the subframe?? (The wiper motor is nothing, nor tyres etc). I presume corrosion, in which case it might be welded up or replaced. Are you by the sea up there??
Post an ad here with some pictures if you've decided to pass it on.

Re: 145/146 owner

Hi Gazdallas,

Sorry to hear about the 146. How about £55 to get it fixed? I have a spare subframe (£25) in very good condition and a spare alloy wheel with a good tyre on it (£15).
It is possible to change the subframe fairly quickly if you know someone who's handy. I changed one myself last year. If you allow a whole day to DIY it that would be about right. I also know somebody with a spare wiper motor (Maybe £15?). The only problem is how expensive it might be to get it all up to Fife?

Welcome to AO.

I'm glad that you like both the 145 and the 146, it is unusual for owners of one model to like the other model.

I hope you get your 146 sorted.

Hi mate, welcome to AO

Why not post in more details about your 146 in the Classified Section?
