Le Mans 2005

Is there a thread about Le Mans 2005?

Will an AO contingent be going over from the UK? I'm going to go over in the GTV with my brother. Wondered if anyone wants to come in convoy.

18-19 June
Tickets are 59 Euro
Car parking is 18 Euro with a 20 Euro supplement if you want to camp

There is now

I'll be going with a bunch of AROC guys. We sail Newhaven - Dieppe and expect to reach Le Mans by mid afternoon on the Wednesday. We're staying in the Houx Annexe campsite.

Be good to meet you at some/any time during the weekend. You'll normally find us hanging out between Indianapolis & Arnage on Friday. Look out for a Giulietta Spider, Giulietta Sprint, a couple of GTV6s, an SZ and a new Spider.

PS if your ferry/campsite isn't already booked, I'd recommend that you do it ASAP.

Re: Le Mans 2005

Got my ferry booked, 10.30pm Portsmouth to Le Havre on the Friday night! Can't wait to get Bambi's rubber on those lovely empty French roads.

Going to share the driving with my brother. Might be a bit strange being a passenger as I've never actually sat in the passenger seat before.

Shouldn't be hard to find then... Look for the red flurry I expect?
See you then!

Funnily enough, other than the Giulietta Spider (which is dark blue) they're all red!

Looking forward to meeting you guys.

One Month To Go!

We must decide on how we will find each other in the event that we are !!!!ed.
I'll wear a read Alfa polo-shirt!

Looks like we won't have a TR6 over with us. The owner hasn't finished restoring it.
It will be 3 very boring hire-cars instead!

Try going for a 407, according to top gear they have pretty decent handling.

Re: Le Mans 2005

Whats the chance of still getting tickets for Le Man, i've always want to go but never made it. This year i have nothing on for that weekend and would love to go.

Wheres best to get tickets from?
What type of tickets are best?
Do i need to book tickets in stands or can i just walk around circuit as you do at tracks in this country?
Is it worth camping? i want to see all night.

So many question, i need some answer.

Re: Le Mans 2005

General Entrance (enceinte générale) tickets for the whole weekend cost 59 Euro (~£40) and are easy to pick up at the circuit or from the ACO offices nearby. (ACO = Automobile Club de l'Ouest, organiser of the race). You can get to most spectating areas and, if you're there on Friday, get access to the pit for a walkabout. More info. here:
http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...ccueil_gb.html

Grandstand tickets will probably be sold out, but you can ask the ACO.

Accomodation will be hard to find. Tickets for campsites inside the circuit would all be allocated months ago, as would hotel rooms, but some people drive in on Saturday and grab some kip in their cars overnight. Ferries will be well booked up, so you'll need to check this out as well.

It's definitely worth seeing the race at night (or night practice on Wednesday or Thursday) and though the race is the highlight, the whole week is a great experience. Go for it.

Bill

Re: Le Mans 2005

You need to book ferries ASAP as these will get full soon if they are not already. Camping has all sold out and its much too late to get accomodation in the area, so you'll be sleeping in your car. Bring lots of food and drink and a blanket.

I'm not sure about getting tickets there, I got mine in advance but the process is quite beaurocratic. I like the peace of mind you get for having your tickets already and not worrying about getting them in France.

It's no problem. We were an entrance ticket short last year and bought one on the gate.

Re: Le Mans 2005

Not so true about camping being sold out...!
The Beaujour campsite is available to anybody.
We arrived at 16:00 on Saturday one year and still got camping there.

It's not a fully serviced site, and is suitable for the harder type Le Mans crew.

Can I interest you in an additional forum/website about Le Mans:
http://www.beermountain.com/
and their forum is at...

I'm there as "Team Alfa"!

Re: Le Mans 2005

Good man! If you need any help with the tickets, PM me, but I suggest that you call the ACO (see http://www.lemans.org/24heuresdumans...tterie_gb.html) and order your tickets (car park and general entrance) by phone. They might still have time to post them, otherwise you can pick them up when you arrive.

You (and any other AOers - Nelly, McGuinn etc.) have an open invite to join us for a beer in Houx Annexe campsite (in the "green" parking zone on the south side of the Bugatti circuit) or when we're hanging out in our cars between Indianapolis & Arnage corners on Friday lunchtime. Look out for an SZ, a couple of GTV6s, Giulietta Sprint, Giulietta Spider &, usually, a new Spider.

Thumbs Up Re: Le Mans 2005

just spoke to justtickets.co.uk and they have tickets available, all things being equal i should have tickets next week.

I have got general admission and parking in the 'green' area (???) inside the circuit apperently.

i'll be in touch nearer the time and maybe we can all meet up for a beer or two...

Re: Le Mans 2005

Parking Vert (Green) is on the second map.
It's parkig ONLY, no camping. Did you only request parking?

As I said, Beaujour will be available anyhow.
