24 heures du Mans 2012 !!

When's too soon to be excited at the trip to le mans?

We've booked with Speedchills at their Bleu Sud private, secure camping. Did this last year and it was first rate. There will be three of us in my Mito, possibly with a Caterham style rear lugguage rack!

Hoping not to be the only Alfa on the camp site!

Kevin

I'll be camping near the Porsche curves in a private garden though Alfaless at the moment. Mind, with my current car turnover that could change, it's early yet!

not been myself since '95. keep saying one year i will return

eurosport coverage, or motors tv in recent years, makes it still interesting though.

but i always follow the flying lizard motorsport team online. you can listen in to live chat from their own pit to cars radio, quite interesting to hear the nonsense they talk to each other in the early hours to keep the drivers awake. you also hear about stuff before the tv picks it up too so adds another dimension to keeping up with the great race

We'll be there... count down commenced some time in February!!

I'm afraid I'll be using the MX5 for this trip, although this does mean we have been considering alternative luggage options. Last weekend I fashioned up a particularly attractive 'boot luggage system' (bloomin' big waterproof kit bag ratcheted down) which prevents all rear-viewing, this weekend I'm measuring up for our sticker design and making some Sam Hitchcock masks to go with it (don't ask, it seemed a great idea after a few pints).

Camping on Bleu Nord again and cannot wait.
Go team Strakka!!! \o/

Yes indeed, looks like both drivers are O.K. though. Safety Car is still out, and showing NO sign of coming in soon either.........

Just been watching the " 24 Minutes live" programme, and its seems that Anthony Davidson is not as O.K. as was first reported, after that horrific accident yesterday. He has a broken back, with a couple of snapped vertebrea, and will be in recovery for about 3 Months , so not the best news there, but at least he will make a full recovery, just going to take time.........

I've still to catch up with most of the action on my SKY + as i was working all weekend, but a fantastic effort from Toyota on their return to LeMans with a petrol LMP1 car capable of taking the challenge to the Audis

A two car attack on their return was never looking likely of an outright victory, but they showed that the stunning TS030 has great pace, so here's to better results in the coming races in the series for Toyota

Also very much hoping for a speedy recovery for Anthony Davidson

Twas a big shunt and reminded me a little of when the
Merc took off along the Mulsanne several years ago.
The car floated into the tyre barrier

The Mercs have taken off a few times, Webber floated into the trees if i remember correctly? unless you are thinking of a different one Gibbo?

1999, Webber and Drumbreck both got airborne in 1999 in that flying Mercedes.

Indeed Monza, and as a result Mercedes withdrew from the race, you have refreshed my memory. That year i was sure Webber was a goner with that crash.

Webber had a slight flight in it on Thursday evening too, but there only seems to be after footage of that with the marshalls running around and a yellow Pug 406 Coupe. I think Roebuck in Motor Sport said last year 'Proper Bloke wins Grand Prix' after Webber won one.
