im not a huge motogp fan, much prefer superbikes, rossi is king of the current era but in my opinion he wont come close to Ago, 7 500cc championships in a row(8 in total), 7 350cc in a row, 5 successive years of winning 500cc and 350cc championships and 10 isle of man wins.

186 gp races entered, 122 wins, 159 podiums, 1968-1971 he won every race he entered.

rossi is on 9 WC, 7 500cc/motogp, 1 125cc and 1 250cc.

I caught the end with the chicken celebration

I'm surprised that he has never been pulled before the 'authorities' for those celebrations! Is there a minimum weight limit in motogp? What would stop some of his followers dropping lead weights into the exhausts or into his leathers??

its his 7th in the premier class plus 1 250 and 1 in 125 so 9 in total and no he wont come close to ago becasue he cannot enter 2 or more races on th same day like it was possible in the 70 's but i like to think he was the best of his era and rossi is the best of this era ! ! anyhow what a championship !!!

AFAIK bikes and pilots get a weight check before and after the race, same goes for F1.

You can't really compare them in any meaningful way. Ago rode in more classes, but there were a lot less GP meetings in a season back then, plus he won the vast majority of his titles on MV Agustas that were ludicrously ahead of anything else on the starting grid. Rossi, on the other hand, has won on bikes that have not always been the best.

I couldn't personally chose between them. And I would also throw Rainey, Hailwood and Saarinen into the GOAT debate.
