Wrc 09

Who can beat Sebastian Loeb?

Judging by Petter's pace in a three year old Xzara - only him?

If he doesn't finish at least one rally soon he will be lucky to keep his seat,

17 rolls , if he had landed upside down in a lake, he could have knocked Louise Aitken Walker of the top spot, but as it is I'd say it's a draw.

I wonder if Markus will get another run in the Subaru, since the experiment to find out if was the car or the drivers that were crap all along was cut short,

Re: Wrc 09

Looking at Markus and Petter's peformances, these are the only two that look like they could challenge Loeb (given the right car that is).

Re: Wrc 09

It doesn't make much sense

Peter in 3yo Xrara = impressive
Markus in Scooby = impressive, no doubt helped by road position initially, I think we were just about to find his true pace when he binned it.

Peter in Scooby = pants, maybe it just didn't suit him, but should a good driver not adapt.

Maybe if he buries the hatchet with Malcolm he could get JML's place, It seems the only thing Malcolm will confirm at the minute is that JML will be driving in Argentina.

I wonder how important the points in every rally since (cant remember must be nearly 80 rallys now???), record is to Ford, I assume Miko is told he must finish when JML crashes, therefore not letting him attack 100%.

To be honest I've only been keeping half an eye on the WRC recently, I hope S2000 can bring some much needed competition into it (at least for 2nd, 3rd, etc).

Re: Wrc 09

The organisers must have paid him to hang back for the first day, to keep us all interested

Re: Wrc 09

I glad you made sense of what I typed, I just re-read it and it was gobbledygook,
I've edited it now

it's a bit worrying (for Fordies like me) that Dani was as quick as Miko, no offence to Dani but it suggests to me that the recent improvements to the C4 are more effective than Fords upgrades.

When it comes to Rallying it Ford all the way for me too.

I have virtually only owned Ford's and Alfa's

Re: Wrc 09

I watched the IRC Rally Azores on Eurosport at the weekend, an almost Loeb-esqe performance by Kris Meeke who seems to be finally showing what he's capable of.

and the cliff edges , lets just say I couldn't recomend it to Jari-Matti

As for the S2000 cars, obviously not as powerful as the WRC cars, but I don't see any reason why they couldn't be as spectacular, and if it means more drivers like Kris Meeke & Guy Wilks etc, can play with the big boys then it can only be a good thing IMHO.

Re: Wrc 09

Meeke's a future world champion, he just needs a full program.

The S2000+ should liven things up with more works teams.

I watched the IRC and it was magic, great to see the name Alen again too even though it's not Marku "maximum attack" Alen.

It turns out Seb is human after all, probably couldn't happen at a worse time for him, just before the summer break

and you have to feel sorry for JML, but he must be running out of last chances.

I'm starting to think there may be a link,

I'm the same, although I'm not sure I count as I've only had one of each*, (Focus & 147)

I suppose this is an Alfa site, and a rallying thread, and everyone knows proper rally fans support Ford

* I've have erased the 4 years of vans from my memory, but even at that at least 3 years were in an Escort / various Transits
