Ah, but he was behind him using the slipstream to gain an advantage.

Dont they get dizzy going round in circles?

Not as bad as NASCAR though. Gotta admit it.

I never understood the attraction of racing on ovals.

Saw my first IndyCar race earlier this year at Motegi (when Danica won) and it was ace!

Just because you are in love with her doesn't mean she should be in f1 (following up on our past "locking of horns" about Danica)

It's not to everyones tastes, but them boys (and girls) have got balls of steel, and skill to match.

The cars move around so much at that speed, to race wheel to wheel at 220mph is just amazing (at one point in that race the lead group were 3 wide for about 3 laps unbroken, just inches between them)

Incredible racing.

round and round and round, what happened at the finish i fell asleep halfway through? cars doing 200mph in a circle does not constitute racing when do they learn how to turn right? even when they do race on a proper racetrack its just as tedious because the cars dont have the downforce to go at anything near decent speeds. indycar and nascar are big in the states bcause bugger all happens for hours on end so the tv can go for ads regularly and the crashes are big and exciting.

IMO (of course) a sinlge race on an oval has more entertainment and more action than a season of F1.

European touring cars and lower formulae are better, but still no match for ovals.

Do you think they lent forward in the cockpit, like they do in athletics?

Then what does constitute racing? Because I thought it was a set distance, with drivers competing to reach the finish before his rivals. Or does the result have to be decided in a court of appeal to make it a proper race?

So it's not proper racing on ovals at 200mph, and it's not racing on circuits because they're not going fast enough? I'm intregued by your logic. Especially when FFord and legends and so forth have fantastic racing at speeds no faster than an average saloon car.

No, indycar and NASCAR are big in the states because they put the fans first, and understand that entertainment is their game. Without the fans, they have no product. something Mr Ecclestone would do well to heed, since F1 is doing a good job of shedding previously hardcore fans in the last few years.

Re: And you thought Hamilton and Kimi were racing!!!

there is so much overtaking in US racing that you may as well wait for all the pit stops and just tune in for the last 15 minutes.
