I'm assuming people have seen footage of the crash. If you haven't, go and look - but I'll tell you ahead of time that no-one has life-threatening injuries, because if you watch it not knowing that, you'll definitely assume the worst.


I guess I bring it up for two reasons:

One is that the safety of single seater racing cars these days is unbelievable. It challenges credibility that she survived this, and massive credit to the builders, and to the work that has gone into making it this way.

The other is that I've seen a lot of crashes in motorsport, but I don't think I can remember one that has stopped me cold like this one.

All the best to those injured - driver, photographers and steward. I hope they all make a speedy recovery.

Marshal, not steward! Being wise after the event, maybe, but I wouldn't have had marshals standing right in the firing line like that.

That incident brings home why I hate street circuits.

There are some super slomo videos out there, and they make it even more mindboggling that the injuries weren't worse.
