Re: Melbourne Meet

sounds good to me. maybe for brekkie or coffee on a weekend morning. perhaps meet up somewhere - somewhere relatively isolated - then go for a bite/drink.

i work weekends frequently, so would impact on my availability.

i live down past geelong, but happy to travel. westside/centrl would be my preference though (eg: williamstown, docklands, port melbourne, etc).

Re: Melbourne Meet

Williamstown would be good. There are allot of meets at williamstown.
The Alfa club of Victoria have meets and drive days quite often.
Ive never been to one yet. They seem to have a good one on the 19th may. Let me know as I may be interested if I at least know someone.

Re: Melbourne Meet

how keen are you guys for this sunday? it's do-able for me, but i'd be coming up from torquay specially. oh, and i'd VERY much prefer the weather to be fine, cos i had getting the car dirty! (this weekend looks ok weatherwise)

i'll PM 'passa' (159) to see if he's interested too.

Re: Melbourne Meet

Well if you are proposing a meet you have to at least propose some meeting sites. Melbourne is rather large.......

Re: Melbourne Meet

i'd be thinking Docklands. probably not as busy there as say williamstown or st kilda or lygon or whatever. and more space/parking.

Re: Melbourne Meet

I would be into either Docklands or Williamstown.
Williamstown would be nicer and its not that busy at breakfast time.
I vote for Wiliiamstown, Docklands is to windy and cold even on a nice day.

What say yeee!

Re: Melbourne Meet

10 sounds good to me.
Should we just meet at the carpark just along the park or at a cafe.

Re: Melbourne Meet

cool. at least 3 of us would make that worthwhile for the travel.

hopefully eureka is also a goer, and another member from the other forum.

so, if there's at least 3 of us, shall we lock in this sunday morning, 27 May, for a 10am meet-up, aiming for 11am late brekkie? at williamstown, if Kutter is able to be more specific about a meet-up point (i don't know the place well enough).

Re: Melbourne Meet

There is a Cafe called Atomic, we can meet there and move on if we don't like it.

Re: Melbourne Meet

One question, how will we know who we are without our Alfas?
I think we should meet with our cars.
When you drive into Williamstown there is a large park across from the
cafes. The carpark is a long parallel carpark on the side of the road.
If we meet there we will know who we are.

yes, that was the idea. meet up, then make our way to brekkie.

parallel car parks aren't that great, cos you rarely end up parking together. is there an area away from the shops/eateries, say a picnic parking area? i can't remember what is exactly around near the pier, or away from the shops to the left of the BIG main roundabout.

...i'll do a search.

Re: Melbourne Meet

What about if you keep driving down the main street past the cafes
to the beech carpark directly at the end of the street?

Re: Melbourne Meet

which street?

on the maps, it looks like there's a parking area at the bottom of John St, on The Strand, north of the main round about. do you happen to know if this is suitable?

Re: Melbourne Meet

Hey guys, how about we meet at Anchorage Restaurant 34 The Strand...on your map shiny_car it is between Thomas and Yarra St(though on the map I have it calls the intersecting street with the Strand, "The Strand" also ??? but it must be Yarra St). Then we can head back down to the main shop precinct which is South on your map shiny_car along Nelson Pl (after the roundabout). At least we will be off the road and say our hellos.

Let me know what you think Kutter and shiny_car? Then will you shiny_car tell the others on aus-cartalk?

Re: Melbourne Meet

Oh I forgot to say the Anchorage isn't open anyway until noon so we won't be bothered by customers trying to park in the carpark. Gives a chance to meet & greet...and stare at those awesome wheels on your GT!!!

FYI their site is http://www.anchorage.com.au
