BABE Rally 2007

http://www.baberally.com

BABE Rally 2007 - From BA (Big Apple) to BE (Big Easy), a total drive of 1500 miles in four days on the east coast of the USA, in a banger yank tank that has to cost less than $250.

In a moment of madness, a friend and I have entered a team - "Queen and Country", the entry has been accepted, and so long as we can get all of the prelims in place, at the end of May we'll be setting off from New York with "New Orleans or bust" ringing loudly in our ears.

We're planning on getting a car in late April and flying out a week early to prepare it for the journey - which is at the end of May.

We'll be looking for a car with acres and acres of metal and rust, a decent set of brakes, an engine and gearbox that stands a chance of getting us 1500 miles, and a very loud stereo. We've decided that an open top is mandatory - even if we have to take a cutter to a saloon. A custom paintjob is planned, given sufficient time.

Papajam (who you may know from the boards) has offered us some help - in particular, use of garage facilities to help us to prepare the car - he's about 30 miles out of NYC.

We still need assistance in getting rid of the car in New Orleans.

We'd also be delighted to offer a team place to any suitably qualified and attributed 'babe' who wishes to accompany us :-)

We'll be raising money for Save The Children, and hopefully, in due course, some of you guys will dig deep. The web link for sponsorship is http://www.justgiving.com/Queenandcountry

Re: BABE Rally 2007

Thanks guys!

I think they're filming it for men and motors or one of the other other obscure TV station.

We're planning on taking lots of pictures and video - and I'll try to get an update onto at least one of the web sites every night.

Re: BABE Rally 2007

Progress and plenty of it!

Lots of pics to post - but for starters, the first task was to straighten out the back.

As you may know, panel beating is a black art requiring careful use of a range of lightweight hammers, dollys, pneumatic/hydraulic rams, jigs and an assortment of other specialist technical equipment. It takes years of training and expertise to reach the sublime heights that only a few gifted individuals ever attain. Exponents of this skill are highly trained in the elastic properties of sheet steel, proper use of equipment and exhibit an almost surgical finesse with their specialist tools.

So - here's how it's done. Watch and learn. Brooklands will be using the pics for their next blockbusting autoguide - 'Advanced Bodywork Techniques for the true professional'
