As Matt mentioned I will sort out accomodation, book restaurants, keep the Hotel booking list updated and other practical arrangements.
Hotels and B&B's around the Ring is not very expensive. There is only one International Hotel in the Area,which costs from 115 euro and upwards.. Otherwise the price range is from about 45 Euro to 80 Euro for a double room.
The room standard is simple but clean. Most include small TV & small Fridge.
Last year the AO group stayed at a very pleasant Hotel in Adenau Village, which is located about 15min drive from the Entrance to the Track.
For this years trip my suggestion is that we stay with the Hotel owned by the Schmitz family (Sabine Schmitz) Hotel Am Tiergarten
This is a very poplular hotel with the Ringers crowd.
which is the Ringers favorite Restaurant is located in the same building as the Hotel, and also run by the Schmitz family.
The Hotel is located in Nurburg Village, 1-2km from the Track Entrance.
Those of us who are doing the Ring Training may 9-12 will already be staying at the Hotel Am Tiergten
. Our room rate was 75,00 Euro for a double room /one person, so expect about the same for a double /two persons. There might be charge for the extra person/bed linnen though.
If we base the Trip on a three night stay like last year, then the Hotel costs would be around 120 Euro / £82 per person if you share a double room. I will of course try to get a group discount for us.
The current suggestion is for the Tour to take place around may 12-16
One way could be to depart UK Saturday may 12,arriving early evening. Then drive at the track Sunday+Monday and head home on Tuesday.
Other way could be to depart UK Sunday, do the track Monday+Tuesday and head home Wednesday.
At this point there are several key questions which can not be answered, the main one being the opening hours of the Track. The Schedule will only be released around end january next year.
The Tricky part is to find accomodation in Nurburg Village (and certainly at Hotel Am Tiergarten) if we book in feb/march.
If we can come to an agreement on time and place for the Tour before Christmas, then I am personally in favour of booking well in advance. This way we stand a good chance of finding rooms for everyone under the same roof, and we can always cancel the booking if things dont work out the way we expected.
