Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

There are a lot of familiar names booked in for this gig. It should be a great day out.

Booked & paid for months ago! £119 for me & herself. Will probably use the saloon rather than the wagon. Should be fun :-)

Due to personal reasons I am not going anywhere at the moment. Not even on summer holidays

The trip to the UK has to wait.

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

I'm keen to book if there's a place - will call them back later. Would be good to do a trackday in the Alfa consisting of all road-cars not loads of caterhams etc with a huge speed differential...

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

Yes there are still places, I just booked 2 minutes ago

Donington park booking number is 01 332 819500
Ask for Caroline.
I had to leave a message but she range me back a few minutes later.

Think you have to join AROC too, which I have done, but not sure if this needed to be done before you book.

Cheers,
TB

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

Joined and booked

Will be interesting to see how my stock 156GTA handles the track compared to your "slightly fettled" item, TB, and good to meet some of you lot!

I booked the intermediate session - not only am I rusty, (endless races/trackdays in 2002/3 but little in 2004, nothing in 2005, and only 2 days so far in 2006) but tracking things much heavier than a Caterham is not my forte... my few outings so far (such as one session at Bedford recently in the GTA) suggest that corners like Copse and Craners will not be flat, and my chances of doing most of my braking between turn-in and apex are slim!

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

One of my trackday mates whos an experienced racer had offered the princely sum of a tenner to the first person in a 200+ bhp car who could take Craners curve flat..

..however he forgot that another racing chum had just acquired an original Alfa 147 Cup prototype and might just be taking it along to this event

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

Bill do you know what the noise limit for this specific event is?

I received some docs from Donnington that mentioend that some days were silenced and that for these days there was very comprehensive noise testing for 98db.

Does this apply to this day?
Hmm must find out whether thats likely to be a problem for me, I don't know if I might be in the danger zone..

Yep, the 98 dB limit will apply. However, Donington uses a "drive by" measurement which, I understand, is slightly different from the more normal "static" measurement.

If you're worried about this, most circuits will do a noise test for free.

Re: Alfa Romeo Track Day @ Donington Park

Last time I was at Donny you could lay off the throotle on the straight and get past the drive by noise test

Might sign up for this too, last time I drove this was on avery hot day in a Slick shod Superlight SV, too much grip, not enough power, would of had more fun in the Alfa if not as quick.

Wonder if I can drive up to brands so they can check the noise for me, I wouldnt want to drive up to donnington and get my car turned away
