Well Happy Summer Alfa Day 7th August

The above is happening at Oakwell Hall (off J26 or J27 of the M62) on Sunday. Entry is 5 per car regardless of the number of occupants.

This is an AROC event but all are welcome and there should be some rare cars on display. There is a children's playground for the kids, the Hall for the spouse and the cars for the petrolheads so something to do for all...

Is this the same thing that gets referred to as GONAD on AO? The one that used to be at Lotherton Hall?

Yup, the very same.

The one I reminded you about last week, Bazza.

Re: Summer Alfa Day 7th August

I was absolutely determined to come along to this, and I'd still like to.
I can't give a definite yes any more though, with circumstances as they are. We shall see...
Is this just a couple of junctions further East than the pub we all meet up in?

Yes, and please note non-Alfas are also welcome, although they will not be parked in the main dispaly area. There will also be a cars for sale area (I know this as one of mine will be for sale...)

Right on all counts Chris.

Did we say what time it starts? (10am incidentally) or that all details are available on the Yorkshire Section Website www.aroc-yorkshire.co.uk and that AOwners should log in from time to time before the weekend to catch up with the latest and stop press news of the event and that the long range weather forecast for Sunday is for long sunny periods with highs of 22C and that being in Yorkshire you'll get a decent cup of tea?

Can't seem to remember whether we did or not....

Yup, Junction 27, If remember correctly.

Hope to see you there (I'll be coming from Derby direction after ANOTHER wedding the day before an Alfa meet)

That's not quite true is it? I thought there were sections in the compound for other Italian cars?

Re: Summer Alfa Day 7th August

I think Alfas, Fiats, Lancias, Ferraris, Maseratis, Lamborghinis and any other Italian cars will have their own display areas, non-Italian makes of car will be parked in the same field but slightly away from the action. As you may have guessed, I'll be going so hope to see you all there!

Spot on again Chris.

For the avoidence of doubt, there'll be areas of parking available on the day for all makes of Italian Car, but if you can't make it in your Alfa, Fiat, Lancia, Maserati or whatever and turn up in an 'ordinary car' instead, no problem.

There's no need for you to feel left out. You still just drive up to the gate, but once through the Marshals will direct you to a general non-Italian parking area so you'll still be able to enjoy being part of Summer Alfa Day.

In the meantime, all Italian makes at the show will be parked up in their own allocated areas. Hope this makes sense.

Did we say that we'd checked the long range weather forecast at Leeds Weather Centre this morning and that the weather's still due to be great? Well we did and it is. 21C and sunshine all the way. It's going to be a scorcher....

Wrinx - will the Matta be up for it?

What you need is one of those new fangled hand-cranks.

Well if the Matta behaves itself on Sunday, there'll be an area at Oakwell for Cars of Special Interest.

You'd be welcome to park it there (or dump it and go away and curse depending on how it treats you on the day)

Cheers Wrinx. See you Sunday

We'll see you there then.

Coming from Scotland to see us, you'll have a fair chance of winning the "Furthest Travelled" Award, which will be one of five Awards up for grabs on the day, unless of course you know of somebody who's comimg from even further away......

Re: Summer Alfa Day 7th August

We'll probably try to restrict the awards to one per person otherwise it's not fair. (That doesn't mean that every attendee will get an award, just that the five on offer will go to five different people!)

Even if you don't win the "most breakdowns" award (not sure there is one of those, or whether the road matters) you might still get the "shiniest/dirtiest/silverist 146 Ti driven from Livingstone by a bloke called Paul" award - if there is one!!
