Re: East Riding Alfa Day

Acording to the Hull council webpage, the place is booked from 10.00am to 5.00pm.

A couple of web searches revealed that last years activities started at 11.30am.

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

A chap on 155.org has spoken to a Yorkshire AROC member and the details are as follows...

Quote:
Just spoken to Colin Metcalfe (Yorkshire ACO) who is a bit out of touch 'cos his PC has blown up!

Anyway - 10.30 at the gates, or apparently a convoy run from the Humber Bridge, meet in the car park at 10.45. Not sure how much sense that makes, but that's what he says!

Added attractions this year - Alfa Uk have teamed up with the local dealer and will be providing 5 or so new cars for test drives, and there is apparently a ginormous Beverley Bomber on display now, said to be something wondrous to behold!

Colin promise update to Yorks site when hes bacl on-line - but for now, HTH

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

I'm not a memeber of AROC yet (Mrs_Speedstar's getting me membership for my birthday).

Does anyone have any more details on the meet at the Humber Bridge, and whether it's open to all, or just AROC members.

Just to go off topic, I assume that AROC membership is a good investment.

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

Just had an email from Colin and he's asked me to put this on the forum.....

1. Gates open 10.30am at the Fort. Entry is £5 per car.

2. AROC Club Shop and Trade stands in attendance

3. Local Alfa Dealers Jordans will be offering test drives of most of the Alfa range on the day

4. There will be Trophies/Awards available in the following catagories

- The AROC Yorkshire Section Award

- The Peoples favourite Car award

- Best Car in Show Award

- Furthest travelled Award

Trophies will be sponsored by Trentside Classic & Sports Cars

5. There will be an organised Convoy Run to the event at Fort Paull from The Humber Bridge Car Park sceduled for 10.45am

The traditionally good ERAD weather's been ordered and we look forward to seeing everybody there!

...and after last year's scorcher I hope they can repeat the weather!!

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

Davey,
Why not come along and decide for yourself? The membership cost is more than offset by the 20% discount given by my local dealer to AROC members, then there's the insurance scheme (but get your own quotes first 'cos it doesn't work for all), the magazine and a soon to be launched mortgage scheme.

You will not have to show a membership card at the gate for Fort Paull and there is no difference in entry price betweeen members and non-members. There is also plenty for non-Alfisti at Fort Paull.

Unfortunately there will not be a "new" GTV/Spider Register display as such this year, because I will be at the Nurburgring (last minute change of plan!). Should be an excellent day all round...

My mind was pretty much made up anyway. As Fort Paull is less than 5 miles from my front door, I'm planning on more than doubling the mileage, and showing up for the convoy from the Humber Bridge.

I've only had my Alfa about 6 weeks, so this will be my first event.

How do people recognise each other? I was thinking about printing out my avatar and on-line alias, along with my mobile number, and leaving it in my windscreen.

<Edit> Sorry about all the inane questions - did I mention that I'm new around here?

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

Sorry to be a thick Southerner (south of the river) but which or where is the car park meet for the convoy please?

Not sure yet if we are going but it helps to find out and be sure. I was thinking of printing my AO name and avatar too and sticking it on my dash. Seems like a good idea seeing as though we have been to three or four events now and never met anyone!

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

This is only a guess, as there are two car parks at the Humber Bridge. However the one that would be big enough for a group of cars to meet, and is easiest to get to, can be found ]here.

When coming off the A63/Humber Bridge follow the signs for the Humber Bridge Country Park.

If Iím wrong Iíll stand corrected!!!

Re: East Riding Alfa Day

Iv'e taken to leaving a little printed note on my centre console, so people can recognise my Car, mind you it wouldn't be difficult without it...

Might get to the Humber Bridge, depends what time I wake up.
