Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

If anybody is interested in a jaunt around the Nurburgring with the 75 Experience ( see www.75Experience.nl ), Alex Jupe is organising trips on the following dates:
Sat 30th Apr - Mon 2nd May 2005
Sat 25th Jun - Mon 27th Jun 2005
Sat 3rd Sep - Mon 5th Sep 2005

The itinerary is usually:
Day 1 - Travel to Nurburg (5 hours drive from Calais), arriving in time for evening meal and groundschool.
Day 2 - Walk part of track, have lunch, have driving instruction on the Nordschleife in 75 track cars and have demo ride in race car. Group meal in evening.
Day 3 - Return to Blighty.

I am investgating the possibility of extending some of the trips so that a second day's driving on the Nordschleife will be possible for those willing to use their own cars. In this case, the trip home would be on day 4. If you would prefer to fly, I'd be happy to give some directions/travel tips.

Costs are expected to be:
Course (including 75 track car hire & circuit fees) - 446.25 Euros
Accom - approx. 80 Euros (for 2 nights)
Evening Meals - at cost (budget for grub plus drinks to be about 30-35 Euros for two nights)
Travel - at cost (budget for return ferry crossing plus 5 hour drive from Calais - OR - return flight to Cologne/Bonn or Frankfurt Hahn plus car hire)

I.E. ABOUT 400 plus travel costs.

If you would prefer to use your own car on the Nordschleife, the cost of the course is 190.40 Euros, but that excludes tickets for the circuit.

In this case, expect the total cost to be ABOUT 215 plus 10 per lap plus travel costs.

To book, or for further info., contact Alex on 07971425201 or via www.alexjupemotorsport.co.uk .

Bill

Three trips seems like a good compromise between automotive excitement and marital continuity.

Its Dover-Boulogne and takes 50 mins.

Re: Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

Cheers, PR. I've been keeping my eye on these guys. Their prices are very low and as they don't use Calais, their sailings haven't been delayed by the damaged pier there. Have you used Speedferries? Has anyone used Speedferries?

Re: Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

Ive used them 3 times now, and booked on again in May. Had no problems at all, although they had teething troubles last summer shortly after introducing the service and some got delayed.
The only thing I would say is that with 4 hours inbetween sailings it does tend to mean you are waiting around a lot, especially if you're travelling from far away, its difficult to judge exactly how long it will take to get there.

But on the whole, very good service at extremely good prices that I would recommend to anyone

Re: Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

Richard Hammond and the Top Gear film crew were photographed at the Nurburgring last weekend:
http://www.pbase.com/nogaroblue/040205tpgr&page=1

By the looks of things they're taking a Transit round and I guess it's a follow-up to Clarkson's sub-ten minute mission in the diesel Jag. I can heaar the **** takes already .

If I do end up going to the 'Ring, it'll likely be either the 27th or the 28th of June. Maybe I'll see you lot there

Bazza,

Don't just turn up there on spec. The 'Ring is not always open to the public, so make sure that you check opening times before you go. Would be a bummer if it was closed .

Re: Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

I tried that, but the website sems to only be in ze German, and I can't decipher any opening dates from it.
I will be checking it out for definite nearer the time, if we do decide to go.
Mind you, it's practically on our route anyway, so it won't be such a big deal.

Re: Nurburgring 75 Experience 2005

This was my best trip yet. The weather was glorious (28 deg C) and we were out on the track from 9am until 7pm, save a break for lunch and another to scrape up a bleeding MG.

Fantastic.

Would love to make it along, unfortunately we'll only be in Europe during August.

So you get to drive their 75's all day. I'm sure by the end of the day your driving will have made a nice big step forward - there's nothing like driving on the track...........might have to change my holiday plans

Pascs,

If none of the dates that we're going out on suit you, get in touch with Ron Simons at the 75 Experience directly and see if he can fit you in on another course. It would be better to go with a group you know, but it'd be cr*p not to go at all !

I do know how lucky I am, Mitch. I don't take any of it for granted. However, the place is so damn addictive that I'll probably be bankrupt before I stop enjoying it.

Almost certainly was us! We were in a couple of Dutch registered 75s and a British one. I can recall a couple of incidents with bikes, but that's normal for the 'Ring on tourist day. What colour/nationality was your Elise?

Strangely enough, no. However, I always wear mine. When there's a roll cage just inches from your skull, it seems like a good idea.
