Balocco (I) International 147 track-day on April 2004!

Hi to all guys!

Only a brief message to inform all the 147 owners and lovers, that on April 2004 will take place an international track-day at Balocco's Alfa Romeo test facility (near Milano and Torino).
It's a unique opportunity to enter and visit the big plant where all the FIAT group cars are developped, and to drive your car where the Alfa Romeo cars are tested.

I'm happy to be able to offer this opportunity to the fellow 147ers and I hope many of you will attend this special event.
The entire plant will be rented for all the day (not yet decided exactly, but of course it will be a saturday or sunday) and we'll have two tracks available. One is the "LANGHE" circuit, so similar to the old Nurburgring, and the other one is the old Formula1 circuit where Alfas has win many prizes when the AR cars was involved in F1 competition.

During the lunch time we'll visit the Autodelta garage, where Alfa's was tuned for racing.

We are now in full immersion to manage in the better way the event, and we'll have to take much decision about services to have available and cost for each participant (we are not doing this for money, but only because we've the opportunity to rent the entire plant at acceptable cost, and we'll work to reduce at minimum cost the participation fee).
At the present we think to allow only a limited number of cars (around 80) and we would work to apply a driver's fee of around 120 Euro, a codriver (who come without a car but would drive the friend's car already paying as driver) fee of around 60 Euros and a participant fee (not allowed to drive) of 20 Euros.

The above are the first indications, I'll keep you all informed about as soon as new development will occour.

I really hope many of you will attend this meeting because if this first one will meet the right appreciation, I would repeat the event every year at least!

Bye!
wink

Sounds really interesting, but it isn't cheap...

Although I would love to go if some Belgians and/or cheeseheads wink would join with me.

I think 80 places is a bit little for a international meeting? But that depends of the number of Italian participants.

To let much 147's be together, knowing each other and create an international group to share future meetings in special places (like Balocco track is).

Hoping this will be interesting for many 147's wink

It's the place where FIAT groups cars and prototypes are developed.
If you want I can post a link to some video we made early of this year.

Marco,

How many entries do you have for the meeting in Balocco?

And do you have a final date for the event? If so I could announce your meeting on my site.

BTW I hope you didn't damage your bella when you spun off.

Hans</strong><hr /></blockquote><font size="1" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I was in Balocco around two months ago and discussed much with the track's manager about next 147's track day.
I think we'll definitely allow a limited number of vehicles (around 70-80) to participate.
There'll be the possibility to have a co-driver with the choice to allow or not him to drive the car, with different fees (it's for insurance reason).
I think I'll be able to give the exact date after the middle of January, and at that time I would discuss with all you guys to choose between some more services available (catering, two tracks opened together, ambulance....) that are of course a kind of comfort, but affecting the day-cost.

About my video at Monza's track, that track is fortunately one of the safest, and I only enter the gravel with the rear wheels.
It seems a slow drive out, seeing the video, but in fact I was at 110 Kmh when the rear side said bye bye!
It was a bad weather day. Temp. of zero degree, and the snow was still falling half an hour before we enter the track. That was my second lap only, the tyres was still really cold, driving on wet conditions, so......

We always need to learn by our errors wink

Here some pictures we took early of november during our last track-day.
As you can see there's a museum inside the plant, where the Autodelta (the true one) was making tuning on the Alfa cars for racing in '60 years.

There are some videos too (taken from the &gt;360 bhp Maurizio's Sierra Cosworth)!
