Long weekend Ring trip, August 09

Pabloss, Jamier and myself are embarking on a long weekend Nurburgring trip in early August (Fri 7th - Tues 11th) and Im posting up this thread to see if anyone fancies joining us, or even meeting us there.

A rough plan of the trip would go something like this...

Fri 7th August
5pm ish - Board ferry and leave 'Port of Tyne' bound for Ijmudien, Holland.

Sat 8th Aug
9am ish - Arrive Ijmudien, Holland and set off driving for the 'Ring. This is around 220miles, so probs about 4 hours drive time.

Arrive Ring mid afternoony kind of time and find hotel.

Spend rest of Saturday, looking at gorgeous machinery, watching racing and DRIVING ROUND THE BLOODY RING - Woohoo !!

Sun 9th Aug
Spend all day...looking at gorgeous machinery, watching racing and DRIVING ROUND THE BLOODY RING - Woohoo !!

Monday 10th Aug
A leisurely drive back to Ijmuiden to board ferry at tea time.

Tuesday 11th Aug
Arrive Newcastle 8 or 9 am and go home/to work.

The Nürburgring* - *AvD-Oldtimer-Grand-Prix event is on that weekend which is as far as im aware, one of the best weekends to attend in the events calender at the Ring.

I was completely and utterly blown away last year when i attended this event, have a mooch at my pics from last year to see what i mean.... https://www.alfaowner.com/Forum/just-...-the-ring.html

Anyone fancy it ??

Re: Long weekend Ring trip, August 09

funny as i have been discussing the ring with my freinds and we have decided on june 2010 as we are all mid projects at the moment and want them ready for then. that event you ended up at last time what was it and when as looks cool,so yea if anyone thinks August this year is too early then your welcome to join us.I have done research and reckon £600 should be enough

No, youre not too late Jamie. Only thing is though, it may cost a little more for the ferry for you as we have already booked. I tell you what though, ill give the ferry company a ring and see what they say to give you an idea of costs.
Hang on lad, ill reply shortly with some costs for you Jamie.

Re: Long weekend Ring trip, August 09

Wish I had a machine worth doing the trip in. Nobody would be impressed by the "most economic lap of the 'ring" which is about all the Smart would be good for. Not even enough power to drift it on tarmac.

Have a great time guys!!

Re: Long weekend Ring trip, August 09

Oooooooooooooooohh! Bacon, Pabloss & Jamier,

THIS is sorely tempting - after all you only live once

I already have the pass from 'she who must be adored'! We talked about saving money for skiing - so no big summer holiday - so I said I may just go for a quick trip to the 'ring then. ....And that was this morning!!

Having been before with others - TB, Peter K etc it was just fantastic, but I promised myself that next time I went I would do Spa....

Could I possibly invite myself along, but I would possibly go from Dover - Dieppe, as it is only about £49 return!!

I may see if I can somehow swing by Spa and blag a couple of laps somehow but that sounds a bit wishful thinking.

Nothing definite yet - but I am certainly interested.

Hmmmm......

Edward

WAHEYYYYY !!!!

Come on Edward !!!, please make it 4 GTA's at the ring that weekend representing the A.O. community - you know it makes sense, speshly at £49.

Like i said in the original post, its one of the best, if not the best weekend in the events calendar for visiting the ring.

Have a sleep on it though mate and see what you think. But you definately know it makes sense tho dont'cha
