Never heard of this clause before

Hi,

Hoping someone can throw some light on this?

I phoned up RAC to inform them that I was purchasing a new car and to give them the details. He took everything as he went to get me a price he informed me the under writer would insure the car and I would require a new policy! I asked why but he couldn't give a proper answer but surmised that it was due to a claus that doesn't allow mid term changes.

I've been driving 18 years and have had 12 cars, so I've changed mid term plenty of times without an issue.

Is this right? Has anyone had the same?

Probably doesn't know his job yet. Although with the additional charges some insurers make, it may be cheaper for you to cancel your existing policy and take out a new one...

The RAC use a panel of insurers. Is it possible that the insurer changed as the original one wouldn't provide the cover or was too expensive?

If you end up cancelling the policy you've got a good argument for avoiding any cancellation charges as they're forcing your hand.

Can I still apply for the cancelation fee to be refunded even after a week?
