Temp insurance

Here's a question...

My current insurance covers me to drive other cars (with the owners permission), third party. So today, I took a car I'm thinking of buying for a test drive. If I decided to buy the car would I be allowed (i.e. insured) to go pick it up and drive it home before the current owner cancels their policy or would I need to arrange some temp cover for the day?

I understand it as this.....You can drive a car "not belonging to yourself" under these terms, (providing the vehicle is insured through the owner as well).
However, at the point of sale, (i.e. you have handed over the dosh, and you have the secondary part of the V5) it no longer belongs to the seller, but belongs to you. and therefore you are the owner.

Crazycarb is right. The normal solution in this scenario is to add the second vehicle onto your existing policy for a week at a time until you sell the old car. It shouldn't cost much.
