Scammers

I am selling my GT and last night i recieved an e-mail saying the punter could not come and see the car but they would pay me through pay pal etc etc.

I told them that they had to come see the car and negotiate, another e-mail with another **** and bull story plus very bad English.

Beware if you are advertising a car for sale, the ads may being trolled by some foriegn dudes attempting to rip us off.

Yeah, usual stuff. Rife. It's a numbers game to them. If they contact 00's of sellers, there may be one or two who fall for it and it's happy days for the scammers.

They will then say they have to pay through a service like escrow, escrow will send you an email saying funds have been received for you but cant be released to your bank until you release the car, this is one of the most common scams as its easy to set up a fake escrow account. Change your advert to cash on collection that will weed out the scammers.

Unless you have the readies or a certified bank draft in your hand then the car goes nowhere.

Simples.

Certified bankers drafts can be faked or stolen - my friend lost two jet skis like that.

What you do is go to the bank together with the buyer and do a bank transfer there and then and the cashier at the bank will confirm to you that the transfer has been successful. Other than that it will have to be cash in hand.

When i brought my gt the seller drove to my house and i transferred the funds to his bank account via wire transfer, he then checked on his ipad and his account showed funds received into his account, took 10 minutes.
