does anyone one on here lease a GT or Brera

just got a quote for a 3.2 GT of £445 over 3 years, just wondering if anyone else has gone down the leasing route and what they are paying, im also waiting for a quote for a 2.2 Brera(no way ill afford a 3.2) anyone leasing one of these? would prefer a brera but the lure of the 3.2 is tempting, just a shame the GT dash is looking very dated now compared to the brera. some feedback would be appreciated

Yes I'm personal contract leasing a GT JTD - wasn't much more than the 147 - c£340 per month based on 12k

Does this help? The Brera was a consderable amount more!

Re: does anyone one on here lease a GT or Brera

Hi JW,

I lease a GT JTDm and its under 300 squids a month over three years.

Note that there is no buy back option or any of that. It just goes back to the big lease company in the sky after the three years are up.

I guess thats a load of money going nowhere, but I justified it to myself like this...

1. I want one and I don't have £20,000+ in the bank... or anything for that matter!
2. For the three years of ownership I have the benefit of the manufacturers warranty.
3. I want one
4. I want one
5. Houses cost too much money so might as well blow it on a car
6. I want one

It was a five minute decision based on if I could get it under £300 then I would do it.

...and rats the dealer did just that. Damn!! Oh well I am a happy man.

I would like to go down that road but I do 20000 miles a year so it would cost a lot more

A bank loan or HP is worth considering for that 'ownership' feeling....

Its with Fiat Auto Leasing through an Alfa dealer. Basically the dealer flogs the car to Fiat and you lease it from them.

So the car is your spec / colour etc etc. You collect from the dealer and so on..

You get the idea I am sure!

I don't think it was actually a huge difference Merlin. As I was going to go for 20K to be on the safe side but the excess mileage is something like 9p a mile.

So if I did 20,000 in a year it would cost me £720 or £60 per month.

Not sar bad I guess. Ill probably end up doing 15-16k.

Quoting myself here, I did put some money upfront to cut the monthly cost down a bit... but of course that is upto you.

Re: does anyone one on here lease a GT or Brera

harleyriv, well yes bank loan and hp are option but, a 3.2 GT is roughly 28K, one hell of a bank loan, even at 5% you are paying over 30K then after 5 years paying off the loan you own a car worth considerably less than half what you have spent 5 years paying, and hp you never really own the car unless you pay the final balloon payment at the end which you will probably have to get a loan for, either way a very expensive way to drive a 3.2 GT, or lease it for 3+35 payments of £445 which means you pay just shy of 17K for 3 years 'ownership' of a 28K car which you never have to MOT or service and is under warranty for the whole time, just a few consumables, insurance and fuel to pay for, sounds good to me

Have you looked into a PCP with the intention of not 'buying' the car at the end of the 3 years, but handing it back and getting a new one?

Re: does anyone one on here lease a GT or Brera

I'm not sure there's a lot in it. A £20,000 loan at the bank will set you back about £650 a month. The total loan payment over 3 years is going to be £23,500 and the car is going to be worth (let's be miserly) £8,500 so it's cost you £15,000.

A lease of £400 over 36 months is going to cost you £14,400.

Obviously, the more deposit you can put down (the less you borrow) and the more you keep your car neat and tidy (the more it will be worth) will make the difference closer.

It seems leasing is good if you don't want to own the car (you'll get a new one after three years) but as my mum would say, if you bought it, it's yours and you don't have to pay a penny more, whereas if you lease it, after 3 years you don't have a car and HAVE to buy a new one.

I would say that 3.2 Brera excludes tyres, road tax and maintenance, hottrout is paying what I would have thought.

I got a quote on a Jtdm GT with 18 inch wheels and it was £380.00 or thereabouts but that was with a massive group discount and excludes VAT.

well that makes the £445 i was quoted sound very good, it included the 18 inch wheels and VAT another £15 for fully maintained, for the 3.2.

When contemplating a company car lease,
I found the diesels were a better bet.
For the same price (or less) than a petrol
you get loads more toys. Something to do
with what they can sell it for after you've had
your fun with it....

May be the French market. They only buy
oilburners now. And they skimp on their toys.
Means I end up having to
buy new.

Ok, but I did a deal with the bank (business accounts as well) and a deal on the car (£22.7K)...and I like the idea of having a choice at the end of the term to buy again or keep a little longer.......As I implied before, and as Ralf says, ownership gives you flexibility..

Re: does anyone one on here lease a GT or Brera

just got a quote for the 2.2 brera, 399 over 3 years, then found out that it was with the little wheels and cloth,so asked them to add leather and the 7 hole 18's, bumped it up to 529 rip off merchants the retail cost of the leather and 18's is 2400, they wanted me to pay just shy of 5000 for it, thats rediculous, they wouldnt be paying retail for the extras so thats one hell of a mark up, i know they have to make a profit but nobody is going to buy a brera in 3 yrs with cloth and little wheels so by me having them, im helping the cars residuals, they should pass some of that on to me

That's assuming there's plenty of second-hand ones on the market for people to choose from. The way they seem to be selling, that may not be the case!

Seriously, I fully agree with you about the mark-up:they're being robber barons there.
