Madness Parks East Kilbride

Six weeks ago my 2003 156 2.0 JTS Selespeed went into Park's for it's 48,000 mile service. They put the wrong oil in (10w40 instead of 10w60) I've used over 4 litres of oil since then in just under 4,000 miles.
No problem - I wanted a new key anyway so ordered one and was to get the oil changed and a new windscreen washer jet at the same time.
A couple of days later I noticed the sump tray was held up with cable ties - not the kind of bodge job you expect from a main dealer! Park's said they would supply a new one at half price and fit it free - not exactly the best deal considering they broke it but better than I would get anywhere else.
I phoned them last Monday to find out if there was any sign of the new key - yes it was in! No explanation as to why they hadn't contacted me. I booked it in for today. Yesterday I phoned to confirm I was coming in. Today when I got there they had no record of me coming! They could still fit me in though.
FOUR hours later and my car was ready to drive home. They didn't have the windscreen jet but hey ho. Got to the car park and realised the new key didn't have the push buttons for alarm setting - went back in and demanded my money back. I will NEVER use these incompetent fools again!

Just had to get that off my chest and now thinking about it they have a key which fits my car which I will have to get them to destroy.

Nice to see that good old Park's are just as bad as ever. Did you have the misfortune of having to deal with Allan Gray?

I have just checked Parks' web site, which suggests that the current service manager is a Colin Armstrong, so it would appear that the ignorant Allan has (been) moved on. Based on your experiences (and those of others), I am gald that I vowed a while ago never to use Parks again. I am currently writing to Alfa about a number of issues, including Park's incompetence and attitute, and I will be asking why they haven't had the Alfa franchise pulled. After some mixed experiences with Reg Vardy, I am having to contemplate using either Arnold Clark in Ayr or County Motors in Carlise, despite the fact that I live in Clarkston - luckily my job takes me down to Ayrshire and Dumfries & Galloway quite regularly.

Re: Parks East Kilbride

I have only had one experience with Parks and its been fine to be honest, good communication, curteousy car etc. I think it was Graeme who dealt with it.

On the other hand only twice in about a dozen visits have Reg Vardy finished the job properly, they also tried a scam on when my wife took her car in.

And RV also put my 156 undertray on with cable ties, but not enough and it rattled. I couldnt face another visit.

Ive used Arnold Clark in Perth and Edinburgh in the past, the former were the best of the 2.

Good luck if you choose to use them again! There's certainly no chance of you bumping into me if you do.

Interestingly, this has been one of my problems with Reg Vardy. Unlike Park's of late (they were once very good technically), Reg Vardy were initially keen to tackle a problem, but rarely managed to resolve it to my satisfaction - things got so bad that I even had to get an independent specialist to sort out a warranty issue, although I made sure that Alfa reimbursed me for the cost . Although I am a chartered engineer, I also found it tiring always having to suggest possible solutions.

Will has said good things about County Motors in Carlisle, so I am tempted to give them a go next month - I have some outstanding issues, and some new ones .
