Hmmm Darn, Finnish importer drops Alfa, Fiat...

Local importer announced that they are dropping Alfa, Fiat, Jeep and Chrysler after 2014.
These marques have always had a rough time here but this disheartening newertheless...

Can't totally blame them, the model lineup of Alfa and Fiat leaves a lot to be desired. People fancy Station/Sportwagons, SUVs and Crossovers here, all of which are mostly absent on current lineup... Weird imo.

How many different models does Fiat sell in Finland? Is it just 500's and Pandas? I thought they had Bravo's, Chroma, Freestyle, and other models? I too am concerned about Fiat's model range. If they want to follow the VW model, they will need a value car from Fiat, with Alfa Romeo offering the upmarket car. Much like Audi does.

"Dropping" or losing? If I already had to stick with FIAT group through 2014 anyway, I wouldn't then drop them just as the new models come on stream...

So the Finnish importer is fin(n)ished as the importer... are we sure this is just not a result of some translators getting their wires crossed? :P

Could be part of a dealer shake up. 2015 is the year we are going to see the Giulia, Giulia SW, the SUV and the Spider. Potentially there is also the 169, 4C targa, maybe a brand new Giulietta in 2016? Maybe Marchionne reckons they haven't tried hard enough and will introduce a new importer for the new models. Much the same as in the US only the best Fiat dealers will get Alfa, not all of them.

I have to say they have been pretty abysmal. Went to a dealer a couple of weeks ago here in Finland to ask about the facelift Giulietta and the guys didn't even know one was coming, what would change, spec, prices, availability, etc. So I asked what they would do if someone actually wanted to order a new Giulietta as the factory won't make any old ones and he couldn't answer

Mind you I am not worried. It is very easy to hop over to Germany, buy an Alfa and import it yourself to Finland.
