Well I had a 155 2.0 TS 16V as my 2nd Alfa.

'Previously loved' by a Vicar from Canterbury, I kid thee not!

It stuck to the road like it was on rails, looked mean as fook and absolutely flew. There was a lovely big whoosh! as you floored it out of a RAB in 3rd gear. That was one incarnation of the TS engine before the emissions controls robbed it of all its excitement. CF2 or summat?

And because of the rakish lines, the boot was enormous and I could get THREE roadbikes in the boot!

I had the Lancia version of the 155 before the Alfa version came out and tried to replace the Dedra with one . However, it lacked the Triumph-ness of the Dedra which did not seem as raw having, as it did , real wood and many sq metres of Alcantara. When the 147 came out they'd sorted out this aspect and eventually I got one.

The 155 wasn't even good. It was a terribly built, badly styled rust box that handled very well and prepped versions won a few races

8v Twinny engine was unburstable, unlike it's cambelt weakened replacement.

I have never driven a 155

I liked the look of the later wide bodied ones, although the narrow bodied ones didn't look quite right IMO.

The widebody ones looked pretty good IMO - aggressive 'wedge' stance, low-slung, rakish.

*Correction* I've just noticed this is not a widebody...but the widebodies looked even better, trust me!

In my opinion its the 156 and 147 that are the best, both in smooth looks, best interior design and best engine sound. I did test drive a Mito and a Gulietta and hated both. I guess the 147 and 156 were the cars i couldnt afford when i just left school, so i tend to want what i couldnt have. My dream affordable car has always been the 147 (pre facelift) and now i have it.

My un affordable dream classic has been the Maserati Biturbo 2.5 Inj 1980's car.

"I did test drive a Mito and a Gulietta and hated both"
A bit extreme but fits into the opinion category just fine!
