I know this lounge is meant for Alfa only so bear with me.

Chrysler 200 spotted undisguised | Autocar

Autocar has the story on the new Chrysler 200 , built on the C-wide Evo base.
Surely, as a stop gap, if the quality is good enough, this could be re-engineered to act as a car for Europe?
Apparently going to use Tigershark and Pentastar engines so whats the hold up.
Come on Alfa, do something for a change

I was going to say we are looking at the new Giulia - just put the Alfa shield on it. (let's hope not!)

In these photos it looks quite European to me. Could be a cross between Peugeot 508 and Vauxhall Insignia. I do like the fact that it has a nice and cleanly styled shoulder line and window surround. No weird steps or asymmetric shapes like in so many cars these days - especially in French ones

Looks like it would suit being a Lancia more than an Alfa, its a bit to round and not pretty enough to be an Alfa.

Astra front end, insignia middle/profile and an Audi-esque rear end!

Giulietta

If sold in the UK it'll carry Chrysler branding; it'll only be Lancia in LHD European markets.

There's some doubt about whether this will see a European launch at all, but in theory fitting FIAT's diesels and the 1.4 MultiAir should be possible as both have been fitted to CUSW cars before (Cherokee for the diesel, Dart for the MA).

The Cassino factory where Giulietta is made has been promised 'two Alfa models' in the coming year... I don't think this is one of them.

If the Giulia is going to look anything like that I won't be buying one. It's not a bad looking car but you're not going to turn around and look at it each time you walk away from it in the car park. If anything it reminds me of the Citroen C5 saloon?

If the 200 was ever suggested as the base for the Giulia the front overhang must be the reason for the pro rear drive campaign. If it's the same as the Giulietta front overhang it's not so good here with the matching rear overhang .

What lancias have you got?
I had new Y10 in 1990 and then Dedras and a Delta HPE . I liked the look of them at the time ...

I know it's only a few pics, but it looks fat, flabby and not remotely interesting; airport rental job, the sort of chronic depreciator that would only serve to further fuel the belief that Lancias take a used car price hammering.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

Yep. I can see it now as a metallic beige rental car. What's the front wheel doing six inches too far back?

Where did you hear the "coming year"? Was it really said? I think it's rather "the next years": 2015-2016 for Giulia, SUV…

I think the 200 will suit its role for Chrysler as an American mainstream car pretty well. Not sporty and special enough for an Alfa.

If SM puts an Alfa or Lancia badge anywhere near that, then the game really is up!

It looks like what is coming out of Korea at the moment but without the warranty!

Its not supposed to be Italian. Bear in mind 2 things, the monstrosity it replaces, and the best selling car in this segment is the Toyota Camry!!

it was from a meeting between FIAT's industrial relations chief and the elected representatives of the towns with factories. Autoedizione carried the report. No dates, but being told '2015 or 2016' would not have been taken as a reassurance by the politicians involved.

There may be other Alfa cars before Giulia if that model has indeed been moved to a new RWD architecture and thus won't see light until 2016. A Giulietta sedan/berlina and an estate have all been mentioned as stop-gaps between now and the arrival of the Giulia proper.

Agree on the first part. With the right engines it could make a good Lancia if the refinement really is as good as has been rumoured. The photos are too poor to make out any styling details, though.

Details follow on from basic architecture and even allowing for the perspective flattening telephoto lens you ca see it lacks a stance worthy of a sporty car.
