Am I mad to consider this?

Alfa Romeo GT 3.2 V6 24V 2dr 1 OWNER, FULL DEALER HISTORY

On face value, it looks okay (apart from the astronomical mileage) and of course I would have to give it a good check over before I did anything but opinions on this are much appreciated!

I would say for the price it's a steal providing it actually works

I would probably buy it but for the fact that the wife would kill me and for the fact that I have had one of those cars before and, whilst I loved it, much like relationships you should never go back!

Good luck with that! There seems to be a different number of GTs on AT every week, I still need to drive one to see if I definitely want one opposed to the 159/Brera. And if it is a GT I buy, I will have to take a good look at prospective warranties beforehand.

Totally different feel from the GT to the 159/Brera. The GT sounds and feels like a sports car despite it's GT status. The 159 is heavy and in V6 form needs to odd tweak to make it even sound like a V6. The Brera needs the same tweaks but once done does feel a bit quicker but be wary of the high tax bracket and the lack of usable seats in the back. If you are ever Nottingham way feel free to test drive my GT. Be warned though, you will absolutely love it. Try a Brera or 159 3.2 beforehand to compare, they both feel much more solid but are far less fun.

I have regular access to a 3.2 Q4 Brera (at the request of a friend i tracked one down for him- which took months, and in return he stuck me on his insurance!) and I like the build quality of it, I know it won't be as fun to drive as the GT, but also won't cost as much to keep going and is safer. The interior is also a bit more 'solid'

On the flip side I will know a lot of the common niggles with the GT coming from a 147 (not always a good thing), needs research and it will come down to which I think scores top marks!

The Brera edges it on looks I think. The 159 in Ti spec might just be my favourite looking of the three mind

Yep. The GT front lights let it down the 159 ti is a beautiful thing, and I'd imagine it to be the same as a Brera to drive. As for the rear seats in the Brera I really don't care, I'm the one driving so will never have to experience the back seats!

A white 159 Ti 3.2 V6 Q4 with tan leather would be my perfect 'affordable' Alfa. I wonder if one even exists!!!
