I just have to bring to the attention of those who don't already know about Benfield Alfa Romeo in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Once again they have gone way beyond the call of duty but this time have surpassed ALL expectations.
I'll try and keep it brief but I bought a beautiful shiney pristine low mileage Alfa GT with FARSH (or so I thought) from an Alfa Romeo Main Dealer in the North West.
However from just driving it home the 180 miles I suspected I may have a problem with the clutch.
I immediately booked it into Benfield Alfa for an inspection and left it with them.
A phone call arrived at 2.00pm that day from the Service Manager (never a good sign) asking if I was in the area and could I make my way over and have a chat with them about the car.
The GT was still up on the ramp when I arrived and I was greeted by the guys at Benfield with worried faces, I knew something was seriously wrong.
To put it bluntly, the car was not the car I thought I had bought.
The GM at Benfield Alfa, Dax Pearce stuck his head out of his office as he could see that all was not well. He offered to go up to see the car for himself on the ramp, got all of the relevant information from the technicians, made one phone call to the supplying dealer, walked back down to the showroom and in one sentence told me that he had arranged for me to have a full refund and the car to be collected and sent back to the North West.
Now if it were not for Dax and the lads at Benfield intervention and help, I have no doubt that i'd be sitting here in front of a solicitor getting them to sue the supplying Dealership. Instead of that the refund has arrived and the car is on it's way back to them.
In my view that is the very best service anyone can possibly ask for.
