wary buyer

Howdy all
Seriously thinking of buying a 57 plate Alfa gt 1.9 jtdm lusso with 65k. Paranoid about the water pump problemx . it has been confirmed that a new cam belt has been fitted but not a new pump. Am I right to be wary.
Cheers
Bryan

If a belt has been fitted but the waterpump not changed then you need to budget to get the belt done again along with the waterpump.

The reason being that the waterpump is usually the item that causes the belt to come off.

If they won't budge on the price for this then consider looking at other cars.

At 65k the pump is very likely to fail sometime soon if it hasn't already been replaced.

Cheers Symon. That's what I've been thinking. Thanks for confirming it. I'm supposed to be test driving it tomorrow so I'll ask the question

Have a drive in it, even if you don't buy it, it will give you something to compare other cars to.

As Symon says, if they're not prepared to negotiate a new belt and pump change walk away, its a buyers market not a sellers.

Yep, wot Symon and CSR said. Plenty of choice out there or get the price discounted.

Worth a look , don't let the higher mileage put you off , I'm on GT 2 ....with 106k on the clock , and a pile of receipts with every repair under the sun. Happy to cast a second eye if you find another potential GT , I'm in Clydebank ..

I just bought a 08 44,000 mile GT yesterday from a dealer and insisted on a cambelt and water pump change in with the price!
