Unlikely Ralf S. brain-wave offspring of Chrysler merger...

Now it struck me the other day...

If someone at AR had too much time on their hands and a high quality but just-out-of-production (aka "Brera") platform doodah lying about doing nothing...

They'd wants to get more mileage out of all that development cost, I would have thought.

They have a platform that can take a drive-shaft to the rear wheels (seeing as the beast had 4x4 in some models, unless I'm mistaken).

They have a pretty saucy v8 Pantystar engine on the rack out of Illinois..

So.....;

a) Turn the beast lengthways and cram it into the Brera platform... running the rear wheels.

b) Add some sheet-metal to the front and rear to give you a more rounded butox and a more droopy nose.

c) Call the beast "Chrysler Crossfire".

d) Repeat, for Spider... though that maybe depends on how stiff that bastad is..

Ergo.. saucy new model that will cost peanuts to develop ... adds a bit of extra value off that Brera platform... and is an Alfa (not a Lancia) in disguise.

On this occassion if Chrysler want to lob me a freebie top-of-the-range variant (in gunmetal grey (gray) please...) I'll waive my consultancy fee..

They already have the 200 as "small" (by US standards anyway) car, plus the Dart (ie. Giulietta) so not sure using the Brera's lardy chassis would make sense

I think they'd rather recycle the 156/147/GT platformm

An even cheaper alternative, as far as dev. Take a 2015 SRT Barracuda, minimal sheet-metal changes, stick a few Alfa badges on it & revive an old Alfa model name . . . how about Montreal, seeing as it's a V8?

Now that's interesting (sorry Ralf ). Wonder if it'll go against the Maserati lineup though.
