Is this a 156 UK Record?

Guys,

This must be some sort of record:

My 275,000 mile 156 SW passed it's MOT today with NO advisories!

Alfa UK tell me that they believe my 156 to be the highest mileage privately owned example currently registered on the road.

It drives, looks and sounds like new and still sports the original engine, gear box, clutch and exhaust.

Who says Alfas fall to bits?

And i've just bought a 147 Collezione to go with it. I wonder how many miles I can get out of that one?

J.

Nice to hear 156 is still going strong.
Now tell us more about the 147 you seem to have got now.

You're doing well! I saw a 156 2.4 JTD up for sale about a year ago with 400+ thousand on the clock though, I reckon it had probably been used as a taxi.

And I thought I was doing well with 201000 miles on the clock.. sounds better when you convert it to Kilometers

Thanks Steve.

I forgot to add that it's a mere 1.6 petrol as well, none of that oil burning stuff!

How frequently do you change gearbox oil?

Good question.

I am assured by the Alfa Technicians that it doesn't actually need changing however as my 156 has done such massive mileage, I got them to change it at about the 200,000 mile mark!

So in answer to your question, every 200,000 miles!!!

The only faults with the car is that dreaded corrosion on the driver's side front wing and an abundance of stone chips on the bonnet. I keep looking out for good replacement panels but as yet haven't found any near by.

I'm looking forward to my 300,000 mile landmark.

I might build a plinth for it and sit it in my garden a bit like those fighter jets you see at the entrance to RAF Establishments.

Nah keep driving the 156

I think Jets up on plinths look a bit sad and retired
Not parted with and Alfa yet with less than 100k on the clock and they were all running like a dream when we parted

You wouldn't think so if you drove it, I think the last owner was a bit lax with the wear and tear parts.
I should get it up on the ramps and make sure the floor pan isn't rotten, and then give the bushes a good look over as there is various squeaks that I should look in to before they get any worse, well that and the cam belt as there is no documentation of it being done after 42k althou 100k since its last belt seems a bit to much seems the owner previous to that seems to have loved it based on the masses of paper work with it.
