Classic Car Club T.V Programme showing Alfa Spcialist

Anybody else see the recent edition of " Classic Car Club " which is being shown on the Quest Channel, and is presented by ex rally driver Penny Mallory. I'd never heard of it before, but managed to record the latest Episode out of curiousity, and as luck would have it, it featured an excellent 15 minute feature on an Alfa Romeo Specialist called Alan ( although it didn't say where or the name of his Garage ) who has been repairing and restoring them for over 20 Years and he had a LOT of Alfa Romeos in his large Garage. I just wondered if anyone knew where this place is, and also if anyone on here had used his services.........

Just watched the Episode again, and managed to spot " Benalfa Cars " going up on the credits at the end, so I would think that is the Garage featured, although I still got no idea where it is. .........

On the same estate as EB spares in wiltshire, long established specialist but I believe he had retired and it is closed down now.

Thats a shame then, but I suspect the programme I watched may have been a few Years old, after reading your comment, as the place was full of part finished Alfa's and the staff seemed to be VERY busy restoring classic Alfa's.........

Harryf is right Benalfa has been closed for a fair while now they seemed to just stop trading overnight . Some on the trading estate say it was due to ill health and a few who have dealt with them say there was no notice that anything else was wrong

Oh Dear, that really is a shame if they have closed down a while back, another Alfa specialist has gone for good......

3 Veloce’s..!

Those programs are about 10 years old if not older. You could tell when they said you could buy a Dino 246 for 40k!!...

Benalfa did close, about two years back I think, I think he retired. Shame but it's allowed more scope for others like Ian Ellis, who has expanded recently.

Classics and Retro Service

Hi,

Alan is a friend of ours and did retire 2 years ago due to serious ill health where he wasn't really given much option, since then we have been working closely with Alan and visits us regularly for coffee and a visit around the workshop where he offers his advice on the Alfa's we have here, from special tools etc to tech information. Since then we have picked up the reins where he left off, still located in West Wilts Trading Est. but no longer in the old Washington Road workshop and no longer trading, Benalfa is no longer in existence,.... Alan still is a legend in the Alfa Romeo circles and we are proud to be associated with him and appreciate the knowledge and experience he is passing on to us.

I have watched that programme also I believe, and on the end credits the one I saw was dated 2005. When they claimed you could get a Lancia Gamma for 350 quid.

Just watched this episode. It was nice to see Alan again; he did the rebuild on my Spider engine, and was a pleasure to deal with throughout. My best wishes go out to Alan, glad to hear he is keeping his hand in. I think he would find it very hard to do otherwise !

Footnote to the folks at C.A.R.S....did you inherit Alan's extensive boneyard of vehicles ??

Hi Garwood1

Unfortunately not, they all went to the scrapyard, which was a shame.

Thanks Nicki
