Screen price / selling,sold price

Appreciate that some may be coy about revealing personal details of deals they have struck but what would be your estimate on the SELLING price of a 159 with a screen price of 5k? From a dealer ( cash buyer no trade in)

06 lusso 90k fsh w pump and belt changed recently overall in very good condition

Thanks for any observations /

When buying cars, I always open with an insulting offer....That usually opens the door to the bargaining game. On a 5k car, I'd go in at 3.5k and then start bargaining to where the sand settles.

Difficult one - it depends on what the seller "has in it".

If I am going to look at a car I want to buy I generally take the cash with me, yes even thousands. If you are prepared to take the car there and then most sellers will let it go for a bit less than they thought.

Be careful about going in too low though, some sellers will take the hump and invite you to leave.

Wherever you start, if you expect to settle somewhere between £4,000 and £4,400 you'll probably be in the right place.

I've been looking on Autotrader now and again for a late Multipla to replace my wife's 05 eleganza jtdm and the 2010 cars are way higher than Parkers guide says. The Fiat dealer in slough has one with 28000 miles advertised for only a thousand less than it was new.

Depends on the scarcity of the car. If you are in the market for a 159 saloon, not fussed about colour, not fussed about spec, then search eBay and Autotrader for similar models and offer the lowest price you find. If you want an SW Ti Spec with a 2.4 (which is what we were looking for), then it is a bit harder, as you can't really say "there are loads out there, why would I pay top whack for yours?"

Thanks - now I have bought

Thanks to all for the helpful replies

I viewed and bought a private sale 159. Owner wanted 5k - I offered 4 with prospect of looking at one nearby on same day , and later same day we agreed £4400.

VERY pleased with the car.

Thanks again for replies
