By all accounts this has been done without any input from the membership and is systemic of the way in which the club is now being run, and they will continue to make themselves look extremely silly

Thank god for alfaowner...a place of sense and reason..a real comunity for its members not a dictatorship led by an old has been.

Office Chair.

Not sure how much of an affiliation AROC actually has with Alfa Romeo but maybe they cannot use the exact logo?

I know the Ferrari Owners Club has very close integration with Ferrari. On the Ferrari Owners website they have links to the worldwide Owners Clubs and use of the logo is permitted.

Not a description of AROC that I (as a long-term member) recognise, although I think the logo issue has been badly handled........

As a matter of interest, who is the "old has been"?

Alfaowner is indeed a fine forum (and a commercial enterprise), whereas by and large AROC is a Club of basically like minded Alfisti that organises many of the events around the country that many AO devotees attend....most of the members who'll be at my AROC meeting this evening have no interest in internet forums. Horses for courses and all that - I don't see why there has to be any antagonism between AO and AROC

AROC Vice-Chairman and Lancashire Section Secretary

Alfa organ donor to the gentry......

I am glad they finally finished the logo which means I can get the flags for our local section printed up!

Not a very appropriate post for a new member here IMO. If you want to insult people at AROC, best to do it to their face rather than do it here behind their back and thereby create bad feelings between the two clubs. This is a community but hopefully it is not one that exists to slag off other Alfa groups.

The AROC does too much stuff behind closed doors and usualy the members dont have a clue whats going on until its too late.

The AROC has got itself into a state where there is only one director controlling everything, the comittee has been disbanded/pushed to one side and anyone with a voice that says anything against the club is ex-comunicated. The membership is no longer properly represented by thier peers, and there is now an effective dictatorship in place.

I have said nothing that isn't true, and I dont remember insulting anyone (other than laugh at a dodgy logo)..if it has been taken as such I am sorry but the people have a right to know that something is up.

I have a great many friends in AROC and I have full respect for them, what I dont respect is the trouble at the top.

I will say nothing more about it other than I want no part of it, hopefully Alfaowner will prove to be the comunity for me and I will try not to upset anyone.

I would have said that "a dictatorship led by an old has been" is a pretty insulting statement to whoever that person is. And why join AO to start whinging about AROC? What AROC does is up to them, AO is not going to help you in your quest to change AROC. We try to work together with them where possible and posting negative statements about them on a public forum does not help.

So welcome to AO but please don't bring whatever beefs you have with AROC here, take it up with them.

Cheers,

Nigel

As a member of 20 years, I have no idea what you are ranting about. Enjoy AO, it is an excellent forum, but it's not a club if you are looking for a substitute.

Oh dear

Mr Spider as a lot of folk have said already here isn't the place to have a pop at the folk that run AROC. We have worked very hard over the last few years to build frienships and contacts with our AROC counterparts in all of the AO Regions.

If you have a problem with the AROC management raise it with them, we're very happy with the relationship that has developed over the last few years between AO and AROC.

This has nothing to do with trying to cause problems between The AROC and AO, there are countless posts on here with comments about many aspects of Alfa ownership and no one blasts the poster for being derogatory about those aspects and trying to ruin a good relationship. (Look at all the comments bashing Alfa GB, the dealers, specialists and service providers, not to mention the cars themselves).

The AROC is an aspect of Alfa ownership for many and AO is an open forum, I used it to draw attention to what in my opinion was a laughable attempt at a professional logo. I also stated that there are some genuine problems with the management of the club, which have a full grounding of truth.

I didn’t realise that criticism of AROC was not allowed here so I shall desist with immediate effect.

New Alfa logo

If this Topic has been mentioned elseware then my apologies,
This new Alfa Logo with the dislodged 'serpent',To me it does'nt show the image we should be putting out, I can imagine the Non Alfa owners looking at it and saying ''Oh look Alfa's badge is broken like their cars''
Change the script if you like but please put the Logo back to normal.

Do I understand that this is NOT a change in the logo of Alfa Romeo but a change in the logo by AROC?

Does Alfa Romeo not have corporate guidelines that must be followed in the use of artwork including logos, colours and their use? I would be very surprised if they did not, and would be further surprised if they had agreed to what is a defaced version of their corporate image.
