Alfa wave - discrimination

Whats the form, does everyone automatically wave at every other Alfa they see or are there some they choose not to wave at?

Thinking here of rep mobiles, (at estate agent round the corner runs a fleet of Alfa's) or people who look like they don't really know or care what car it is, it's just something to get them from A to B are two examples which might spring to mind.

The train :(

If I pulled alongside a dirty Alfa (no, not just a diesel), I might not bother engaging with the driver but then I wouldn't have waved at me last week...

Only wave to other GTAs. Too many other Alfa drivers ignore waves. Will return waves if waved at.

I continue to wave at them all indiscriminantly despite getting little in return
I only recall two or three responses in the two years when I had my 159. They were from a Spider, a 156 SW and another 159 (I think).

Just returned from a 900+ mile trip whilst on holiday in the north of Scotland and waved at loads of Alfa's of all types - none whatsoever were returned! I've only had my 166 for 3 weeks now so it's perhaps too early to see if new Alfa owners can spot the different front-end in time

Despite this, I received glowing praise from a chap (with a Merc estate) in Fort William Esso petrol station on the way back who commented on how beautiful/rare my car was. Perhaps that's more rewarding than a wave anyway?

There are several threads about this. "Keep trying and you will (eventually) be rewarded" serems to be the message. I have only ever had two waves returned in the two months that I have had my GT, both from other GTs.

To some Alfa drivers, the Alfa is just another car, it seems.

I wave at all except 159, brera, 946 spider and giulietta's. Used to but I have never been waved back. Not even once. (except for fish and Viking dad but they don't count) All older alfas do although 146's and 147's are a bit hit and miss and GTV's tend to wave to me only when in the GTV. The Mito and 8C are the only new ones I ever see wave back

I wave at them all but has anyone any advice as to how to wave to cars on the motorway you pass or pass you ... I feel there are so many more waving opportunities out there.

Me too but getting a bit fed up now. I think I've only had about two return waves in 3 years.

I usually wave, but then again I normally wave in such a way as to be misconstrued as wiping a bug off the inside of the windscreen.... to save embarassment at the non-return.

Having said that, I've got four waves in four months, and have waved like a loon at at an Italia Independent Brera

I usually wave at all Alfas, but if I'm in traffic & I look at the person driving I'll make a judgement if I believe they're Alfa fans. The ones I tend to not bother with are quite a lot of female 156 drivers, quite a lot of them are A-B users. I wave to all 166s (obviously) but again, the response is mixed

Honestly i do wave to other GTAs or Brera/Spider only, or historic Alfas... it's not a matter of discrimination, there are simply "too many" (even if it's never too much) Alfas around here to wave to all;
I would litteraly end up keeping on waving all the time And I do always wave back.
It's nice to see i usually get waved back, and if the driver is a girl most of the times they wave first.

We do wave back, well some of us do

I like the sneaky pull up behind the Alfa in question on the motorway aproach, pull up along side have a sneaky peek if the driver is looking and has noticed you, you'll get a wave, nod, wink or if you're really lucky a

Or, as happened to me one night, an impromptu and very enthusiastic mini convoy for about 10 miles
