Who wants to buy Morgan's old 166?

That's right, folks - your chance to own a piece of the magic.

1999 ALFA ROMEO 166 2.5 V6 24V SPORTRONIC AUTO

These are the guys I bought the Golf from, and traded the Alfa into.

It is the one and only reason I got rid of it in the first place.

Nope, it was pretty good a week ago (when it went to the dealer).

Long MOT (April 2012), good engine, strong gearbox, interior in nice condition. Good tyres. A few marks around the body, but nothing major.

Not in A1 concours condition, but certainly a very "honest" motor. Felt like it had LOADS more life left in it when we parted company.

The ONLY reason I got rid was because I am now doing 2,000 miles a month commuting for a new job. I can't be doing that in a petrol V6 (hence the Golf TDi).

Otherwise, I'd have kept my Bella.

Bet it hurts to see whatever mark-up they've put on it.

Nah, I know how the used car game works, plus they gave me a fair cost-to-change for the Golf, in terms of the Alfa + cash (after a bit of negotiation, of course ).

All in all, I'm happy, though I wish I didn't have to give up the Alfa in the first place. But hey, c'est la vie!

What comforts me, however, is that I parted with the Alfa on good terms. It didn't let me down, it didn't fail it's MoT test, it didn't spit me off the road, and it didn't cost me too much money, either (apart from fuelling it).

This basically means that I am certainly not ruling out having another Alfa in the future.

Nice car. You could have bought a new grille badge for it though you tight git! Mini swiss approves though.

 questionable previous owner history though. Not in terms of how it was looked after. Just the story those back seats could tell!

I had the 166 valeted the day before I chopped it in for the Golf.

The rear seats are surprisingly comfortable & spacious, as it happens.

I'm not actually selling it. That's the dealer's problem now. Though I'd be pleased if my old 166 was bought by an Alfa enthusiast.

That would make me feel all warm inside.

Indeed. I wouldn't want it to be bought by a know-nothing who picked it up because they "just needed a car - any car".

But, like I said earlier, it's the dealer's problem now!
