Your next car???

Hi Guys

Following on from the "156GTA!!!" post. Ian has got me thinking (again!!) what my next car will be?

Its not something I really like to think about but the day will come in a couple of years when I need to replace (or add to) the V6

I need a fairly large car to carry a 5-piece drumkit and it must have 5 doors. Bit of luck that I like saloons!

It will probably end up being a 156 V6 but also like the 147.

My dream car is a Maserati Quattroporte or Ghibli Cup!

So what will you have next (realistic) or what does your heart desire (money no object)??

Hi Wrinx

Like you l need the space, but for different reasons. A wife who isn't happy unless the boot is full of shopping at least once a week and two young kids who on a day out like to take as many toys etc as possible! eek!

Working along these lines my ideal next car would have to be a 156 Sportwagon, with at least a 2.0 litre engine.

Money no object, and staying loyal to the Italian car it would have to be a Ferrari 456 GT and its even got back seats (well sort of!).

If l were to move away from Italian cars then it would be an Aston Martin or a TVR. Dream on!! wink

a very dirty car

Hmm..
For me in the short term a new 156 GTA would be nice, although 10K to spend on my V6, mainly on the engine - bored to 3.3, reworked heads, fast cam, twin turbo - and some shiney 18" wheels.
Dream car, maybe an Aston Martin DB 5,7 or 8.

Just now I like the new 156 GTA !!!

But the cars I buy tend to be a few years old.

money no object.....the Ferrari 355 (like the sharp shape better than its replacement)

There's a guy who lives down the road from me with TWO 355's (greedy ba****d). They are the best sounding cars I have heard in real life !!!

wrinx - the explorer has all the room you could need wink & I will be selling it in 12-18 months

I will prob'ly get a 166 3l manual or 156 gta next, although the Exploder (a common nickname in the good ol' USA) in cruise control on the motorway is much more comfortable than the 155 v6, in the 5% of driving when you have just GOT to take a corner at its maximum, the Alfa has a distinct advantage

hopefully the gta will not have the depreciation problem of the standard 156 or 166 tho' frown

Howard

thanks for the offer!!!! If I ever need a minibus I'll be in touch wink

Shouldnt think the GTA will suffer too much depreciation, it may well be a collectors car in a few years??!!??

All the money in the world - I'd go for a Lamborghini Diablo or Murcialago.

Lots of spare hobby cash floating around - I'd build a new 155 (no, really!) - in fact, I'd probably create a 155 GTA!

Realistically, I'll probably go for a 156 Sportwagon, but I'll kick and scream before selling my 155!

We've had this conversation Wrinx!!

Realistically the next car will be a Skoda Octavia RS!!! Don't laugh! 180 bhp Audi TT engine (could be chipped to 225bhp)on Passat Chassis, Anthracite 17's standard, optional WRC rear spoiler, leather, 4 doors, different, like the styling, reliable, fast, good residuals, high magazine ratings..... £14k new!!!!!!!!!

Dream car.... well it would be a collection rather than one in particular, but it would include Yellow Ferrari 246 GTS Dino, Alitalia livery Lancia Stratos, Peugeot 205 T16, Lancia Integrale, 155 GTA, BMW E30 M3 Sport, 1950 Series One Land Rover and Mk 2 Escort RS2000.

I don't want much! The most expensive of these would be the Dino (£50k) or a GTA if I can find one. I'd like to take a Q4 and really do it up to about 400 bhp with a sequential gearbox!!!

I doubt I'd have a 156 (sorry Chris!!), though I haven't really looked into the GTA yet.

Regards,

Henry (Number 10 RIP and 10a!)

Henry

Thought it was a golf chassis.

V.W. are not noted for their chassis these days!!

Wooly springs to mind.

If money was no concern, I'd buy a 155 V6, put in a 156 GTA 3.2L motor, get some monster brakes (Brembo) suspension and wheels, Silverstone splitter and raised boot spoiler, etc, etc. A Touring Car for the road.

Just a dream for now.

Maybe a 147 to be more realistic.

Regards

Jacques

Money no object it would have to be a Ferrari 355, plus some private lessons from Vicky Butler-Henderson ........

More realisticlly a 156 would seem to be a natural progression, a v6 24v with a fuel card!

As for the lessons, I'll just have to keep watching her on the tv.....

Probably a 166 they seem to have the same depreciation gene as a 155. Wouldn't mind a 155 V6 Ti ex DTM and getting it on the road. Other special car would be Walter Worhl's Pikes Peak Audi Quattro S1 move over EvoPrezzas...

Hi Wrinx
you started it.
My present dream is an Alfa 2600 Sprint Zagato – I could then find out how many litres of fuel that goes into the petrol tank. Just got the Danish Alfa magazine and the mystery car is that one – and one of the questions is about the petrol tank. Anyone knows? Come on, it’s an easy one.
Seriously, money no object, a dynamic collection.
Down on the earth (and considering Danish car prices) I’ve just got at 156 2,0 which I enjoy tremendously (sorry). But, one has to look forward. I have bought my last 2 Alfas off the Company in which my wife work and one of the Directors have just ordered a 156 JTS – the wife decided the colour and I the options. So that settled, then.

It's taken me a long time to add to this but the reason I bought a 155 was because I though the 156 pictures I saw well before it was launched were just great. It looked as though it had been designed by someone who cared about cars rather than a computer. I decided I must have one but as a new car costing nearly £20K was out of my price range I bought a 155.
Now I don't know what to do.
My dream car is a 156 2.0 veloce in silver with grey leather and a big f*** off spoiler.
Guess what ; I've just seen one for sale exactly as I want for £12K eek! (ouch). It's a UK car with 16 months Alfa warranty left on it. Trouble is I don't want to part with the 155 now.

Tought decision. The 156 is a rep-mobile though. You will lose more money on the 156 compared to the 155 as you have already paid for the financial hit of depreciation.

Hello guys,

If I had enough money, I'll be glad to have a Ferrari 328 GTSI (but I'll keep my Alfa's)...

I think my next car will be a GTV V6, or a 156 v6, in order of preference.
