156 1.8 TS Lusso

Crazed 156 1.8TS Vs 2.0TS?

Hi Guys,

I currently own a 156 1.8TS and was wondering if there is a major power difference between my model and the 2.0TS? e.g. would it show me its backside without ay problems at traffic lights if we hypothectically had a duel. I know the BHP difference is only minimal but have never driven or been in one to tell for myself.

Also sound wise as i love the sound of my car after 3k rpm but is the 2.0 meaner sounding when the throttle is opened?

Thanks,

Dave

The 2.0 sounds amazing, but i have never heard a 1.8 to compare.

The 1.8 sounds awesome. I miss mine terribly. There isn't much difference in noise IMO.

I also remapped mine and it was quicker than a stock 2.0. The 1.8 has shorter gearbox ratios which help too!

I was pretty impressed by my 2 litre. Its not massively faster than the 1.8, but it has more torque and cruises a bit better due to the taller gearing. The 2 litre engine is slightly smoother too due to the balance shafts, I couldn't tell a lot of difference though TBH.

Fuel economy on both is pretty similar, but a 1.8 will probably cost a little less to buy.

And there is less to go wrong with the 1.8.

2.0 all the way, smoother and more torque. Absolutely love mine, sounds fantastic when I give it the beans and I like the way the sound of the car bounces off the houses in my street.

What do you mean when you say smoother?

My 1.8 has much more vibrations than 2.0, but I do not know is this normal...

This is my problem, does anyone knows something about the difference in engine vibration between 1.8 and 2.0.

I had a 1.8 145 & a couple of 2-litre 147s. The difference between the two engines is that the 2-litre has more low-down power, pulling strongly from 2,000 or so.
