A Modern Find with a sad twist.

To cut a long story short a 156 has been mentioned to me by a friend at work, unfortunately its owner (an elderly gent) passed away some time ago.

The Spec...

156 Saloon in Alfa Red, 1.6ts, 38 000 miles, Tan Leather, Elec Sunroof, Clarion Radio/CD, 15" Alloys, Air Con and described as having been garaged all its life including the past year or more since the owner passed away. The car is on an 'X' plate 2000.

From the detail is this probably a Veloce?

I'm guessing the question is what value is in the car on the open market? I've been told i should make an offer if interested... I know Iíve only just got the sportwagon but this seems a good opportunity to get a low mile FARSH car, it would be well looked after with myself, hell i did not know the owner but I feel i do in a weird way.

Thoughts on what i should be offering? (Iím happy to offer having not seen this car as i have heard nothing but good about it)

Finally there could be a Minty Wagon for sale in the near future

That's sad...

As for the car, an 8-year old 1.6 isn't going to be worth toooo much, no matter how tidy it is.

I'd guesstimate about £3k, since it should be almost new nick..

Hey Ralf

It is sad but the old guys wife wants it to go to a good home, apparently it was his pride and joy.

£3k really that much ? I feel ashamed now as I was thinking around the £1k mark

I personally would have said £1k was nearer the mark

I'd be bidding on the low side as well, sad, but you have to be fair to yourself as well. Bear in mind also that cars sometimes suffer if they stand for year.

A big black car.

Re: A Modern Find with a sad twist.

£1000 - £1500 tops. Just because it has been sitting about dose not mean it will be in good nick. probably needs 4 new tyres if it has been sitting for a year.

Re: A Modern Find with a sad twist.

bigred above me is completely correct, i've checked the price of 156s before and they're only worth just over 1K. Because it's got such low mileage and it's in great condition you should probably offer a bit more for it though.

Re: A Modern Find with a sad twist.

Sounds like a Lusso rather than a Veloce if it has 15" alloy wheels. The Veloces came with 16" five hole 'teleial' wheels, lowered sports suspension and plastic sill skirts (and some minor interior trim differences).

£1500 would be a fair price to offer.

I'm with Camp Freddie on this one.

Re: A Modern Find with a sad twist.

Sounds like a Lusso, all Veloces were on 16's.

I sold my 3 year old 156 in 2006 for £4300.00

That one is 8 years old and needing a major service and a timing belt.

No more than £1500.00, then youre spending at least another £500.00 on it.

Probably will need a battery too.

Re: A Modern Find with a sad twist.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll come back with news in the days/weeks to follow, if it's a non starter for me I will try to persude the owner to let me advertise here as it would end up in the hands of an careful owner.
