Front number plate

Apart from fixing with screws has anyone is there a way of sticking a front plate on and getting a good fix , because i brought a set of plates with the alfa logo on the left hand side but as soon as i looked at it realised the screw will go right through the logo

Not sure if "No more nails" would work, or in fact be legal, but this fella seems happy with it

Crazed Re: Front number plate

Sorry to be a boring f**t but technically any car logo makes it an illegal plate anyway as you are only allowed EU, GB, ENG, SCO, CYM flags.

Re: Front number plate

Well, I'm illegal too then. But at least you can read the reg. number and I can stick a GB sticker on if and when I go abroad.

You can get some sticky pads that should do the trick

Don't they legally have to be attached with rivets/screws/bolts?

Re: Front number plate

Sticky Pads are the thing.

Make sure you get the ones, designed for number plates, from (Any) motor accessories shop, as these are REALLY sticky.

IIRC they only cost a "couple a quid" for a packet of 6, but for the front plate you'll need about 8 (so 2 packets), actually might be best to use all 12.

They come with Alcohol wipes too.

You might find that every now and then you'll have to push the corner back on, as mine "Springs Off" at the end occassionally (especially after washing).

I don't think you are supposed to have anything apart from the Euro flag accompanied by the letters 'GB' - all the England/Wales/Scotland/other flags that you see are technically illegal.

Anyways, as has already been pointed out super sticky sticky pads are the way to go

Re: Front number plate

Mines stuck on, and is really STUCK with double sided tape bought from a Motor Factor, don't use the cheap stuff from the discount shops.

The tape is nice to have around and have used it for other stuff in the car and in and around the house.

Re: Front number plate

I have screwed mine on, however rather than drill through the logo I drilled further in on the plate. I couldn't get the plate to stick on properly using only tap.

Correct. Here are the full regs...

It's worth noting if you mis-represent a plate it can be seized and youn will be issued with a Q plate.

Wonderful things these cable ties, can spice up married life too ! Oh dear, time to go !!!!

Another example of how I can ruin a sensible Thread, getting far too good at it. As I used to say, I do excellent work very cheaply, in other words........... Good For Nothing !
