The tempting fate thread

At this moment in time, I have no problems with my Alfa.

Anyone else?

Funnily enough I said that to my son last night.....and then the heat shield came loose and was dragging along the floor

Re: The tempting fate thread

I thought my 159 SW was perfect but the mileometer was flashing on the way to work this morning. I arrived at work, turned engine off then on again and it wasn't flashing!

So I guess its perfect again...I hope.

Re: The tempting fate thread

6 months of Alfa ownership and all's well ....only problem so far was a common problem with rear lights cured with a new rev counter @ £15 from fleabay ..... but i am only just getting over the paranoia with checking for warning lights all the time

So far so good... she's running as smooth as a smooth thing covered in baby oil i'm loving every minute of it

Ps I laugh in the face of fate

Re: The tempting fate thread

1. Tells me I have no oil every time I start it (apart from when my mechanic has a go)
2. Tells me I have no brake fluid whenever I put the handbrake on (well it does say "no brake fluid and/or hand brake on")
3. Brakes are rubbish (my fault put on red dot stuff because it was cheap)
4. Get the odd Motor Control Failure jobber
5. Just waiting for the clutch to go after my remap
6. Desperately needs a clean ...

Apart from that nothing else I know of!!!

for the moment anyway...

Re: The tempting fate thread

i said this th eother day. the result:

windscreen split. just replaced it
clutch is slipping (remapped)
Tracking screwed
Track rods siezed
Track rods bent (bloke at kwikfit hung off them to try and move them)
Rust on roof
Front tyres seem to have shed all their rubber over the weekend
If i drive towards a services station the price climbs higher the nearer i get to it.....boooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some sod dented my door
one of my doors has gone creaky, spray lube does nothing for it......hmmmmmm
my roll bar bushes are gone.
several sods have hit my rear bumper

mind you for my alfa thats not a bad list of things to repair!!!!!! lol

love, love is a verb, love is a doing word.

This thread is going to start a spate of Alfa Romeo break downs and causing lots of damage.

Re: The tempting fate thread

Mine is having surgery for a perforated head gasket..

But I'm taking the opportunity to replace every single part that is even remotely knackered, rusted, faded or worn... (new parts becoming unobtainable, so may as well...)

That includes the float in the washer bottle, that was a long-time AWOL'er..

The driver's door lock doesn't work with the key and the door hinges sag a bit... but these don't seem too important by comparison to the millions of pieces the motor is in..

I said that the other day, then went out started my car only to watch the headlights turn off, the radio shut off, the air con shut down then followed by the engine stalling. I decided to turn off all electrics and try again. Success.

The only thing that is wrong with mine is that I'm not driving right now!
