Re: Question

Whats the milage. All I will say to you is at £4000 for an 01 plate you should ask for the cambelt to be changed. If the dealer says no then ask for £350 off so you can get it done. Ask anyone on this forum and they will preach the same. Cambelt, cambelt, cambelt. If the car sounds like a diesel when it starts then the timing variator is faulty and this is another £90 on top of the cambelt change.

147's are great cars but they dont like neglect. An FSH is a must at this price! Hope this gives you some food for thought!

You sure about that? Normally it's the other way around where buying an Alfa is concerned

Re: Question

Aye! Get the cambelt and tensioner done.. but make sure they give you the old parts, so you can be sure they did it and didn't just say they did it.

The crucial job is the tensioner as it seems to cause more "belt failures" than the belt itself failing.
