Some Numpty

Has reversed into my lovely Titanio when it was parked outside my house today and smashed it up!

Just a little crack on the bumper of his Toyota Avensis naffmobile but he has made a right mess of the front of the Alfa ...

Bent the bonnet
Bent the NSF wing
Split and dislodged the bumper
Smashed the headlight unit
Broken the foglight
Broken the plaggy mesh grille thing
Smashed the number plate (as if that really matters)

The damage from just a slow speed reversing bump is unbelievable and it looks VERY expensive. (For his ins. co. .... Claim is already in.)

Oh and when we were exchanging details he had the plucking cheek to ask what sort of a car it was!!!

Rant over.

Re: Some Numpty

Dude, you got his details and you are claiming off him, so its all good

But, just so you know costs (official Alfa parts):
  • N/S Front Wing: £143.30
  • Bonnet: £282.72
  • Front Bumper: £393.28
  • Headlight: £219.91

I don't know cost for fog-light, but knowing Alfa it'll be about £60.

The grill and number plate replacement would be about £50 too....

Lucky you got his information, going to be a costly job

For my two front wings, bonnet, headlight and respray it is costing me about £1.5k, but, your needs more work.

So, £3k might be close

Plus labour, paint and vat.

WTF was the fool doing? And at what speed?

Did he 'fess up or did you have to go out there?

Make sure you get steering and tracking inspected.

Re: Some Numpty

Just turning round in the (very quiet) road where I live. Can't have been more than walking pace. I'm amazed it has done so much.

Came very sheepishly to the door, so I spose at least he is honest.

Good advice on the steering/tracking. Cheers. I hadn't thought of that.

Also surprised me that it didn't set off the alarm, as lots of 159's seem to be over-sensitive???

Opps, I didn't realise you had a 159. My prices are for 156 parts, I imagine 159 parts would be either more because more modern or less because still being easily made... take your pick

Re: Some Numpty

I reckon not much change out of 3 grand
especially with light etc. That bumper
mesh is not a separate part, I was told,
so new bumper.

Jeese I got smacked pretty hard in
the arse and had less damage than all that!

I reckon 1600 quid for parts, double it
to include labour paint and VAT.

Lets call it 3200 for cash like.

Hire one from a dealer while yours is being repaired and claim it against his insurance.

Re: Some Numpty

Frontal damage is always extensive and cos it's all plasticky crumple zone, and designed to do just that - crumple.

Rear ends are much tougher (oo-err)
