Next GTA News

I know this is GTA-related but I thought I would post it here for you all to see. I have some information from high up in Alfa that there will most likely be an announcement about the next GTA model within a few weeks. Also, the GTA concept is something Alfa will continue and it appears there will be real focus on weight saving, lightened materials and performance innovations. There could be GTA models at both the high and low end of the range.

Sounds exciting - looks like there will be a viable replacement fo the GTA within 2-4 years Let's hope it turns out to be true!

Cheers,

Nigel

Sounds like it could be a possibility. I suspect (hope) here will be an annoncement in time for the British Motor Show.

....Only if it's got a proper engine in it - that plastic covered piece of rubbish in the Brera just doesn't cut it for me. Can't they cut two cylinders off the V8 ?

Re: Next GTA News

I think Alfa need to be ambitious with the next GTA range.

With petrol prices and war on large engines, IMO they should go for a 3 litre twin turbo diesel or something. A petrol GTA isnt going to sell much.

well you will be half happy to learn there will most likely be both a petrol and a diesel verison. consider the bravo sport, 1.4t-jet or 1.9m-jet. consider the grande punto sporting, 1.4t-jet or 1.9m-jet.

i wouldnt be surprised if the mito GTA comes as a 1.4t-jet and 1.9m-jet, but both having more output than the fiat equivalent. i think its too small a car to have a v6 engine, its only a grande punto underneath.

as far as the twinturbo goes, who knows maybe they will finally use the 1.4 twin turbo they developed last year, or maybe it will sit on the shelf forever. either is just as likely imo.

Yes, it would be a diesel Alfa.

You could make an argument that the current GTAs are not worthy of the name* (remembering what the 'A' should stand for), and you could argue that no FWD car is 'an Alfa' - each of these is as valid as saying that a diesel isn't an Alfa.

*not saying that they're bad cars, far from it.

Re: Next GTA News

The 1.8 turbo Mito will have 230bhp from what I've heard. Makes sense considering the 1.4 already produces 180bhp. Rumours it'll be called Supersport, not GTA, though.

Re: Next GTA News

That makes sense - others have said that the Mi.To is the new Alfasud, that could be the new Sprint. Should be a nice power to weight ratio.

Cheers,

Nigel
