1964 BSA C15 SS80 m/c - crap. My first bike: dealer saw me coming - lots of problems, I had to do a rebore within a month, useless front brake, slipping timing.
1963 Hillman Superminx convertible. More knackered than I thought, so did a total rebuild, with lots of mods, on my dad's drive. Did a genuine 115mph by then. I was young.
1958 Ford Popular E107E - bought for 10p with a ruined engine. Bought a good one for £7.50. Used while the Minx was on bricks for 2 years.
1973 Citroen 2CV (LHD 425cc import from Belgium) - like a biplane. Very reliable in between carb rebuilds. On one 400ml trip I dismantled and cleaned it 13 times. Took me 2yrs to find the points.
1967 Honda CB175 m/c - bought for £7.50 with knacked regulator. Fixed that. Brush painted pink and brown, so I painted the pink bits yellow. Horrible but good.
1967 Ford Transit SWB - scruffy, noisy, useful, lots of miles done. Oil pump drive rounded off, replaced the big ends in the gutter. Took the front beam axle on the tube to get new kingpins fitted.
1973 2CV again (I bought it back 'cos I liked it)
1960 Triumph T21 m/c box job (spent loads, ran out of money for gearbox bits, sold it on)
1973 Fiat 127 - endlessly replaced bits, but a great, fun, revvy little car, that slowly dissolved before my eyes.
1973 Ford Capri 2000 V4 FL (terrible shabby silver paint, awful harsh 'uprated' suspension, but reliable)
1979 Honda CB250 Superdream m/c (almost new when I bought it. Unfortunately a previous owner had neglected oil. I ended up rebuilding the engine & gearbox.
1985 Honda XBR500 - the only new vehicle I have ever bought. Kept it until 2006, c/o another I bought for spares. 2 rebuilds.
1981 Yamaha XT250 m/c - bought for green laning. Too front heavy and sluggish. Swingarm broke, exhaust rotted, but not bad.
1984 VW Golf Gti 1.6 - great fun, but not as reliable as the legend insists. Fond of breaking clutch cables and blowing bypass hoses, gear linkage, alternator. But great fun on country B-roads.
1988 Renault Espace 2000TXE - much-maligned unbelievably good car for family use. I owned it 1991-2017 still no rust, no major issues except the lacquer all fell off.
1988 Suzuki GSXR1100J m/c - tough, simple, blindingly fast, and a test of fortitude in fast bends. I still have it, needs a little work. So do I.
1994 Suzuki DR350 m/c - bought for green laning, but so many faults I stripped it for rebuilding in 2004. Still in boxes
1996 KTM Duke 1S3 m/c - urban hooligan, exploding generator aside, good until stolen and written off
2003 KTM Duke 2 - better built than the '96 Duke. Unfortunately also a thief magnet. In storage as I got fed up chasing away scrotes with knives and angle-grinders, with a pickaxe handle.
2008 Alfa Romeo 147 Sport Q2 - bought cheap with a horrid rattle, ingested swirl flaps. All good now. By my standards this is a 'new car'.
NB the dates are the years of mfr, not the dates I bought them
Most were old clunkers by the time I got them. I tend to keep vehicles a very long time.
