What to do with a dodgy satnav?

my "new car" is fitted with a broken connect nav system, i agreed to leave it in to negotiate another 100 of the price. What can i do with it?

the connect unit switches on with the key but stays on the alfa logo, goes black for a few seconds then restarts.

I was thinking, fix it and use it, of strip it for spares (I am sure there are some people here that would pay good money for a replacement screen).

Anyone got any troubleshooting advice or tips?

Re: What to do with a dodgy satnav?

Funny enough mine did the very same thing, from time to time
Don't know how, but it managed to cure itself.
Try switching the contact on and off at different times to switch it off the hard way. I also pushed both rotary push buttons at the same time for a long time, but have no idea if that actually helped at all...

I'll give the knobs a fiddle then and see if i can kick it into life. Would be great if i could, i really want to keep the screen in.

If i can't get it to work, would anyone be interested in parts? what parts could i sell? (fascia, LCD panel, CD laser?)

Hi Ransoman,

if it's the Nav+ (colour screen one) and you are breaking it I'd be very intersted in the ribbon cable between the GPS unit and main board for ££s. That's what is stopping my Sat Nav bit working.

PM me if interested.
