insurance 3rd party claim question.
I am relying on a cheque from my insurance company to cover some of the costs of upgrading to a 147. The cheque covers effectivly half of the cost of the car. My soliciter, while making the offer, assured me that i would not be asked to produce a reciept of repair for the 3rd party insurance company. To which i replied "good, i might not get the car fixed straight away as i am very busy at the moment".
I am wondering, when i recieve the cheque and pay it into my account, are the 3rd party insurance company likely to turn around and ask for a reciept for the repair? if i can't produce one because i have sold the car, what can i do?
if i know 100% what is going on then i will be able to get the car with a clear head (effectivly this purchase is to replace a damaged car so the insurance money should be valid?).
i don't want to buy the car then have the 3rd party turn round and ask for the money back.
