TUT Public Car Reviews - the downside

See this link.

ALFA-ROMEO 159 2.4-JTDM Reviews

It's when you realise that people will look at the bars at the top and then make a decision using that "info". Read some of the so-called reviews to see what I mean.

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

When you read the reviews you see that actually they are not independent at all.

They appear to have been written by the same person who does not have English as a first language.

The same phraseology is repeatedly used such as "it is OK, for an Alfa Romeo".

And how could one owner have had a 159 for 6 years, while another for 3 (THREE) decades?

10 years?!?!?!

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

Those reviews must surely be 'fill in the blanks' types?
I reckon there's just a series of questions like 'what's your favourite part of this car?', and it writes the review based on your answers.

Hi,Fraser

It was fun reading,
Sad that it could
have an adverse effect
on the ALFA159.

But in truth any persons accepting
these reviews,
deserve all they get,

Why could end up purchasing
a taka.

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

these all sound the same

the front fog lights are the stand out item on the ALFA159

if you went by these reviews you would be crazy

I particularly liked:

"Alfa Romeo have been my favourite manufacturer for years, but the bad passenger seat belt could change my mind"

Whoever administers that site should be shot for the quality.

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

It's fairly obvious that some of the reviews are by people thinking a 159 is a 156. I do admit the first few look like a plant by BMW

Actually I just reAD THEM ALL (SAD i KNOW) and wtf? looks like it was filled in by a bot, wonder who would write a bot to do that though specifically about a certain car.

I thought it was Mojo Jojo actually

I didn't actually look at the other model reviews but I suspect they are pretty much the same. When I first read it I though it was people taking the pee out of each other.

Looks like it is all generated by a computer, with a limited number of options in an effort to make the site look full/busy...

Public car reviews - the downside...

I would have thought the obvious downside would be that the entity known as 'the public' is really, REALLY thick.
Just look at the top 40 on any given occasion for proof.

ASTON-MARTIN Vanquish V12-Vanquish-S Reviews

I particularly like "After 4 minutes of ownership I had to buy a new seatbelt however the Aston-martin dealer gave me a full refund."

and "I've had a Vanquish for 6 months and it's ok, for a Aston-martin."

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

Genius... so many great bits

On a personal note "I bought a new windscreen however Alfa-romeo gave me a full refund" converted me to what was my least favourite/prefferred automobile..

Although someone should explain to the text bot that the word is "preferred".

"I've had a Vanquish for 10 months and it's ok, for a Aston-martin. The Vanquish's gear stick is my least favourite part of this vehicle. However, the Aston-martin Vanquish's performance is very good. I bought a new steering wheel however the guy I bought it off reimbursed me. Aston-martin always were my least favourite automobile and the Aston-martin Vanquish's catastrophic ride leaves me with no reason to think otherwise. One word for the Aston-martin Vanquish - awful."

Re: Public Car Reviews - the downside

my favourite parts of that website are the spangle buttons that thrill like no other, even though it is not the best marque. But my quest to deliver a quality review properly double parked, was hampered by issues too sticky; good for a computer, but not so good for a yoghurt-based product. This makes my review as helpful as a soggy tea-bag in the event of a gas attack.
