Alfa Spare parts rippoffs....

The price of a Variator AR0055202772 for an Alfa 147 2.0 TS is
1) Australia (official price) A$560 (about 260 UK pounds/347 Euro)
2) EBSpares UK A$175 (82UK pounds) ie The official Australian price is about 220% dearer..........

Does anyone know the 'official' dealer Alfa price in the UK for comparision ?

Does the dealer price include installation/labour costs? The difference is really high!

Labour for a complete belt change including all tensioners plus the variator is A$492(230 UK pounds) (Official dealer install price)...cheaper than the variator on it's own

Re: Alfa Spare parts rippoffs....

Think the dealer must be quoting for an incorrect part - that proce difference is crazy.

I was quoted about $A700 (320UKP) for the drivers seat raising merchanism on a 147 2.0 TS......I suspect that it would be a lot cheaper in the UK. I think that the actual 'handle' you use to work the mechanism was $A250 (UKP120)

Re: Alfa Spare parts rippoffs....

to be fair you wouldnt expect aus prices to be the same as uk prices, the scale of operations is a lot smaller in aus so the diseconomies of scale need to be paid for somewhere.

Re: Alfa Spare parts rippoffs....

We pay about the same as UK prices for parts at the Alfa dealer and there are probably no more than a few hundred Alfas here.

I often buy parts in the UK and have them sent to an Aramex Shop & Ship account with UK address and then Aramex ship the items on weight - about $10 /KG - great for small lightweight items

Re: Alfa Spare parts rippoffs....

in qatar the cars are cheaper so in terms of part cost per car retail price the parts actually cost more.

if a car cost £20k in the uk and a handle cost £20 in the uk, that is the same as a car costing £10k elsewhere and a handle costing £10 there.
