147 1.6 T Spark

Hi

I need some advice

I am sorely tempted to buy a lovely dark blue 147 T Spark, test drive was lovely and I was smitten, I go today to sort finance out, but want some advice really.

As its my first 147 and ***** in general I am a little nervy due to the bad reviews out there, I own a honda civic now and my concern is the petrol concumption, as the 147 is less efficient, so all I want to know is how others have found it.

Also the car I am getting is a 55 plate and has 9000 on the clock is there anything worth mentioning to the dealer today about that?

I think that I will get the car regadless of what anyone really says as its such a sexy looking car lol!

Tali

Hello & welcome

It will need a service in 3K - see if the dealer will do it for free.

Re: 147 1.6 T Spark

The original back box and mid sections are notorious for corrosion, although they are doubled skinned they can look unsightly, if you don't want to have the original exhaust mid and back box contact EB Spares, they charge about £250 inc VAT and Delivery for a stainless steel CSC version, makes the car look far better.

Generally i get about 40mpg on country roads and about 25 in town so overall it evens its self out, but this depends on where you drive.

It'll require more tlc than a honda civic such as cambelt every 3 years and as alimac said the exhaust but that should be a couple of years away. Overall its a great car as your soon to find out.

Also a good idea is to check the oil once every 1000 miles, eats it! Check the power steering pipe, renowned for leaking by the return pipe but is ok if looked after.

Thanks guys, I will go for the s/s exhaust once i get it and as for the petrol thats about what mine is at the mo as I drive mainly on motorways and main roads for work.

THink that I will start getting used to having my head under the bonnet looking for leaks and general wear and tear.
